(record review)BLOODCLOT-“Up in Arms”(Metal Blade)

Cover

Wow! This is only what I can say after listening to the new album of Bloodclot, kind of hardcore supergroup featuring John Joseph(Cro-Mags) on vocals and ex Danzig, ex Dwarves members Todd Youth and Nick Oliveri. The album is pure fucking hardcore energy, in the vein of early Bad Brains stuff, for whom everybody knows that they were one of the main influences on John Joseph. The music that Bloodclot is playing is old school fast apocalyptic angry hardcore punk that reminds me also a lot on Cro-Mags seminal record “Age of Quarrel”, still one of the best hardcore records of all time. The album contains 12 songs almost all of them under three minutes hardcore punk straight in your face bombs. The lyrics are mostly political but also the themes are scene and some spiritual stuff.  John Joseph sounds better than ever, angry and pissed off. This record is instant hardcore punk classic! Great stuff!
