BACK GARDEN LIGHT is a French Easycore Pop Punk band from France founded in 2014. The band stands out thanks to a great live energy and a music style that will appeal Pop Punk fans as well as Metal fans. Back Garden Light is influenced by bands such as Good Charlotte, Blink 182 or Architects. Strong of a first EP called “First’s A Game” mixed and mastered by Alias Studio (Chunk! No Captain, Chunk) and a cover “I Want You Back”, the team just came back from a Japanese and European Tour.

They will release three singles with specific themes. They just unveiled Jumping Fences
released through Red Toad Music (Krod Records) with a music video.

“This song is basically about going on a journey, improve yourself and accomplish what you hope for. We believe that you’ll feel this “going on an adventure” kinda vibe listening to the song and watching the video filmed in Japan by our dear friend Enzo Capucci!” – Max, BGL.

(record review)SOOM-“Djebars”(Robustfellow Prods. | Addicted Label | Voron NEST | KVLT OV Ї )

Ukraine has rich and interesting underground scene and Soom is one of the bands from that scene. They are releasing this second album via Robustfellow Productions.

Soom was founded in Kharkiv, Ukraine, at the end of 2013. Adding the weight to the first album this new album contains 10 tracks of tortured mix made out of sludge, doom, lo fi noise and hysteria. The experience of this album is total dark ride. I love New Orleans sludge scene, but the European scene brought a lot of originality in the sludge making it even more tortured, harsh and hard to listen to. This music is not for everyones ears, but I loved it. There is some Black Flagish stuff in the song structures but it quickly changes into total doom metal or noisy passages. Vocals vary from screaming, tortured singing, whispering or just spoken word. The best time to listen to this album would be Friday or Saturday night prior to going out, because you will drink yourself to death with this music.

(album review)Silent Kingdom-“Where Secrets Meet”(Darknagar Records)

The local scene is where your true love to the underground scene begins and where you start to build your underground network of bands, people, label, promoters, zines… This time I will review the new Silent Kingdom record. This band comes from Sarajevo, the capitol of Bosnia.

cover_1516879739923595

“Where Secrets Meet” was released on independent Russian label Darknagar Records and contains 8 songs. This band was founded in 1999.combining the history of Bosnia, the native music called sevdalinka or sevdah and black metal. That was the case with earlier releases, at least I think because I did not hear this band until this album. This is no black metal, this is atmospheric folk metal with sevdalinka and other traditional melodies that this band is influenced by. The lyrics are partly in native language, partly in English. This music is not for the fans of folk black metal and harder side of things. This is more atmospheric music with the clever use of dual male/female vocals and keyboards and other additional instruments which fit into picture nicely. I must admit that I was not impressed upon the first listening of the album. But, the night has fallen and as I write this article, the music of Silent Kingdom feels great.
