(record review)Fallen Monuments-“Distance and Time”

Fallen Monuments from San Diego, CA released their debut studio album and I had the privilege and I am happy that I listened it and reviewed it for this webzine.

Fallen-Monuments-Distance-And-Time-Album-Cover

This band was formed on the ashes of some older Californian bands like Decenter or Castoff among others the latter I saw live at Punk Rock Holiday in Slovenia in 2016.and they were awesome. You probably guessed it, the guys play melodic punkrock in the vein of many Californian bands but doing it with heart, soul and balls. The album contains 9 songs. What I love in punkrock is, when band has emotions behind their art, behind their music, and this band does. I really love “Old Friend” having a beautiful chorus just made for singing all day long. The songs are not fast, so expect no hardcore punk here, rather mid tempo punkrock with enjoyable melodies, anthemic choruses and great backing vocal harmonies. Some songs that were somehow best for me are: “Conflicted” and “Distance and Time”. This is a great debut album, so check it out and go get it!

(horror movie review)VICTOR CROWLEY(2017.)

Everyone who reads this webzine, knows my love for horror movies and also knows that I love slasher horror the most of all horror subgenres! It is so hard to find a decent horror slasher nowadays!

Couple of years ago director Adam Green introduced us to the new villain in horror, namely Victor Crowley in his slasher horror Hatchet. This new maniac was brutal, bloodthirsty, and the Hatchet movies, all three of them, were blood n gore tour de force and fun as hell to watch! I was skeptic when this new, fourth installment came out, because almost all new sequels in known horror franchises are utter crap, but I am glad I was wrong! Set ten year after the events in the first movie, a plane crashes in the swamp and some people accidentaly resurrect Victor Crowley and the carnage begins again.

This fourth movie is full blooded slasher for the 21st century and I loved how it was fun, gory, gritty and intentionally over the top in some parts. What pleases me most, I think that there will be more sequels and soon! This one was awesome!

(record review)STRUNG OUT-“Black Out The Sky e.p.”(Fat Wreck Chords)

California punk veterans Strung Out released their new e.p. on Fat Wreck Chords and it is a bit different than the material that we are used to listen by these legends. I listened and reviewed this one for my webzine.

index

The record contains eight songs, meaning six new songs and two, how should I put it remakes. Why is this record different than the previous releases by this legends? Because this record is a collection of acoustic songs. I don´t think that this is a bad thing, quite the contrary, with this release we are able to hear all the musician skills of Strung Out, the band who influenced so many with their unique blend of technical skatepunk and metal riffs. The songs on this record are in a darker mood, at least I felt like that when I listened. For me somehow the best songs on this record are “Town of Corazon” with a chorus that stayed in my head for days after listening and “Presidio”. I loved how Jason Cruz´s voice sounds better and better with the years. This is different but very fine record.
