(record review)THE CASKET CREATURES-“Return to Wolfton”

The Casket Creatures are playing horrorpunk and they do it deadly good! This is their new record that I listened and reviewed for this webzine.

They were founded in 2010.and are hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. This is their third full length release. The guys had hard times and endured a great pain recently when their drummer Tony 2Skulls passed away. This record contains a spoken word spooky intro plus 11 songs. The excellent “Phantom Zone” marks the first part of the record as one of the best songs, the guys made a video for the song too, which you can see below. I also loved “Roswell” very much having an anthemic chorus just made for singing and shouting along live with the band. “Robot Revolution” reminded me a lot of nwobhm metal bands with pumping riding rythm and strong melodic riffs of course mixed with horrorpunk sci fi lyrics. Of course, the record doesn˙t lack classic horrorpunk tunes like “The 13th” for example with a lot of ooos and Misfitesque melodies but they are far from being someone` s clone. The songs that are my absolute favorites on this record are “Attack of the 50ft Woman” being almost horrorpunk lovesong and “2Skulls” that is very emotional but strong song that is a tribute to the drummer and brother who passed away too soon. This is a very strong, melodic and energetic horrorpunk record and I loved it.
