Swedish pop-punkers ABANDONED BY BEARS have released “Greyscale,” the groove-filled banger from their highly anticipated new album. The track closes the bands upcoming third studio album, Headstorm, set for worldwide release on August 24, 2018 on Victory Records. To coincide with the release, the band will be serving up old favorites alongside new Headstorm tunes on the inaugural Headstorm Tour, kicking off August 24 in Chicago, IL.

“Up to this point we only made videos for our more poppy and upbeat songs,” admits bassist Gustav Eriksson. “All our videos have always had a more ‘positive’ vibe and although this is not the first time we’ve written an angry song, we’ve never accompanied one with any video. We need to keep trying new things to keep the whole band experience fresh, and for us this was very different compared to visuals we’ve done before. This song reflects a situation in your life where you’ve had to cut the ties with a friend, a significant other or someone close that brought the worst out in you.”

Fronted by the dual vocal combo of Leon Ekelund and Fredric Andersson, ABANDONED BY BEARS is rounded out by guitarist Jacob Devinder and Max Fahlman on drums. The band released The Years Ahead in 2016 under Victory Records and spent a quarter of that year in the US touring ever possible corner. They returned in 2017 for another taste of America before closing out the year with their first ever tour of the UK.

When Headstorm is released on August 24, ABANDONED BY BEARS will spend two months circling the US for the first tour supporting the album. The tour starts in Chicago, ends in Nashville on October 25 and “fans can expect a good mix between the last album The Years Ahead, the new one and even some older, deeper material,” promises Eriksson. “We’ve put together a good set that will appeal to everyone and can’t wait to showcase it. Other than that, we look forward to seeing old friends and faces, make new ones and have a good time like always! Americans are always very friendly and welcoming so we’ll probably end up needing surgery on the muscles of our faces to fix the mile-wide grins!”

Pre-order packages for Headstorm are available now and include an instant download of “Greyscale,” “Headstorm” and “So Far Gone.” The full album will be available everywhere August 24, 2018.

(record review)The Shorts-Bunker Money(Thousand Islands Records)

Canadian label Thousand Islands Records, although small, continues to release excellent records by the awesome bands. This time, we listened and reviewed the new record by the Australian punk band The Shorts. Read the review!

The Shorts - bunker -front

The record contains 9 songs of melodic punk with hardcore and skatepunk influences. This record is very diverse. There are some reggae influences in “Lenny the Shark”. My personal favorites on the record are “I don´t know why I do this anymore” being superb fast skatepunk anthem with the lyrics I can relate to, the other being “Wall Street” with the unusual but fine melody in the chorus and mid paced rythm. I also love the fast punkrock hymn “Silo”. This record is another proof that Australian punkrock/hardcore scene never ceases to amaze.
