(record review)ABERGAZ-Gušenje Robovlasničkoga Rada(GRR)

Abergaz just released new full length album, it is full length number seven if I am not mistaken and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

Gotta pay my respect to the Abergaz mainman axeman/vocalist Njec for being stubborn all these years and pushing the band on and on with countless releases, videos, singles, direct actions and performances. This Zagreb based hardcore punk band is now a one man band/project with Njec recording all the instruments, vocals and even performing alone live with the help of occasional live drummer.

This new full length album contains 23  songs. The last album was not so good in my opinion with quality of the songs not being on the level the earlier releases were in the past. This new album musically differs from the older material in a way that it is now closer to the 80-ies computer games sound with some rudimental industrial behind the conventional guitar riffs in the song structures. The lyrics are still mainly political, but also with many everyday Croatian life stories to which all of us can relate to.  The album is not boring in any way, time quickly passes while listening, but I just can not relate to the sound of Abergaz on this record, with earlier releases being much much better. I wonder what will Njec create on the next releases, with him being the individual who is not afraid to cross genre boundaries.
