Bio:

Formed in Gloucester City, NJ, The Warhawks have established themselves as one of the premier rock and roll bands of the Delaware Valley music scene. Blending elements of punk, garage rock, and indie pop, cousins Matt Orlando, John Bilodeau, Pat Bilodeau, and longtime friend Tom Lipski have worked tirelessly performing live, releasing multiple EP’s, and positioning themselves to be a national act. Their heavy hitting, guitar driven tracks, highlighted by well crafted melodies and powerful harmonies and have earned them nationwide college radio airplay as well as rotation on Philadelphia’s own WXPN and WMMR.

Known for their explosive and razor tight live sets, The Warhawks have shared the stage with internationally touring acts including: The Menzingers, Christopher Owens, White Reaper, Sticky Fingers, Dune Rats, and DZ Deathrays. They have also been featured as group vocalists on Beach Slang’s  ‘Everything Matters But No One Is Listening’.

(record review) The Run Up-In Motion(Real Ghost Records)

Remember The Run Up? We already featured Bristol punks on the pages of our zine. This time they are releasing the new full length record with Real Ghost Records and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

Cover@3x-100

The new record contains 12 songs of beautiful melodic punkrock, modern, fresh yet still catchy and memorable. This is not your California styled melodic skatepunk, fast and crunchy, rather more emotional punk with heartfelt lyrics and something for everyone to find themselves in. From the more sped up and energetic Portraits, to midtempo anthemic Grip, The Run Up find themselves in complete control of our ears and emotions as listeners. One of my personal favorites is Your Omission, having a barrage of noise turning into melody and galloping punkrock drum force. Discretion and Sunsets continue in the same direction, but the real gems on this record come towards the end with The Run Up and Light It Up being true little stars in the crown of underground melodic punkrock for the 21st century. Try this one. This band gets only better and better with every release.

Crossed Keys (ex Kid Dynamite/Good Riddance) released new video for Everything Breaks

f0640038-5187-4e6a-8156-43fe93945917

Philadelphia’s own Crossed Keys are gearing up to release Saviors, a seven song EP that will appeal to fans of Samiam, The Bomb, and The Loved Ones. The melodic punk quintet features former members of Kid Dynamite, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, and The Curse. Two weeks ago, they released “Times of Grace” a fiery track that plays like a love letter to the ethos of embracing D.I.Y. culture. Today, they are following it up with “Everything Breaks.” Teaming up with D.I.Why? Productions, the band created a playful music video based on the song title. The video features singer Josh Alvarez slugging through his day as everything around him is breaking. You can watch it right now at No EchoSaviors will be released on October 4th via Hellminded Records. Pre-orders are available now.

WATCH: EVERYTHING BREAKS

“Set fire to all that you hold dear, so you don’t have to face your fears,” sings vocalist Joshua Alvarez (Halo of Snakes) in reflection of moving past the things that hold us back.  After playing in numerous bands around Philadelphia over the years, the members of Crossed Keys bring their varied experiences together to create a unique, driving melodic sound.

Alvarez is joined by drummer Dave Wagenschutz (Kid Dynamite, Good Riddance), bassist Andrew Wellbrock (Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer), and guitarists Beau Brendley (The Curse, Kill The Man Who Questions, R.A.M.B.O.) and Dave Adoff (Step Ahead, Jackie Thousand).  “Saviors” was recorded over a weekend in May 2019 at Noisy Little Critter in Downington, PA by Mike Bardzik (Joyce Manor, Kill Your Idols, Spraynard) and mastered at West West Side Music (The Misfits, Converge).

From the wistfulness of “Times of Grace” recalling shared times in basements and firehalls to the frustration of inaction voiced in the title track, “Saviors” is seven tales of gratefulness for all of those moments and people in our lives that led us to this point.

Crossed Keys has played venues all over the tri-state area, supporting bands such as H2O, Dave Hause & The Mermaid, The Lillingtons, Good Riddance, Shades Apart, and Strike Anywhere.
