(review) Gemišt-S/T e.p.

We already featured Gemišt on the pages of our zine, whether in gig reports or interviewing them. I watched them play live, both with old and now with new singer and these guys are unstoppable grindcore machine destroying everything in their path. The guys from the band are really active in our local scene, promoting diy gigs, playing in various bands and also keeping the faith in the hard times without decent club or place to organize gigs in, but managing and keeping the scene alive. Hats off to them for that! There are intro and three songs on this new e.p. and the lyrics are about nationalism, clerofascism on the rise, alienation in this modern times and consumerism, plus classic more death metal lyrics in one song hehe, I bet the singer wrote that one hehe. If you are into diy grindcore and support the scene, go to Bandcamp and support these guys, they definitely deserve it with their approach and activity in the scene.

(review) Comminor-Answering Machine For Broken Dreams

folder

Comminor are from Sweden and they played in Croatia once upon a time in Zagreb as I recall. This band started as a skatepunk unit once when they were formed in 2010.but now they evolved into some more modern version of pop punk with lost of melody and emotion behind the music, but still retaining punk harshness in song structures like in great The Cure for Bullshit. But, they also incorporate some electronics into their music and is is done smart and fits perfectly like in Party Mes Chers. In all of the songs Johanna´s melodic and Victor`s more screamed vocals interplay adds drama and intensity to the songs. There are couple more of my favorites on the record like Punk Rock Holiday(the song, yes!) and more darker Live Streamed Suicide. This is good modern punkrock record, proof that there is no old school or new school, there is one united scene with diversity which makes it rich in its existence.

(review) Huntingtons-¡Muerto, Carcel, O Rocanrol!

coverLegendary Huntingtons are back with new record. I must admit that I have heard the name of the band all the time, but actually always somehow failed to listen to their music until now. What an ignorant fool I was. This music is heaven. I must admit that they are in the same rank as Teenage Bottlerocket with their ultramelodic Ramonescore, that means becoming one of my favorite bands. This 14 songs offer some of the best melodic pop punk carrying the legacy of Ramones in song arrangements, simple three chord bombs, fantastic vocal lines and anthemic choruses. Although this record came out early this year, it is for sure one of the contenders for the record of the year. Recommended songs: Not Penny˙s Boat, You Don˙t Have To Go, Too Old To Care.
