(review) Überyou – ‘Silver Linings’ (Gunner Records/Inhumano Records/Say10)

Covid pandemics messed up lots of plans, so it also messed up plans of Zurich based punk rockers Überyou in writing and releasing their new record earlier than this. So, that is passed now and here is it. The fifth album by Swiss punk rockers containing 12 songs. The music is melodic punk, but not your fast skate punk/hardcore, this one is rather mid tempo hard hitting emotional melodic punk rock not dissimilar to Bouncing Souls, Hot Water Music, Off With Their Heads, Flatliners and similar bands, at least they reminded me of such genre, although there are also more up tempo straightforward punk songs like for example ‘Just Swinging By’. Vocals are raspy and rough, could easily fit into some wicked street punk band, but don’t worry, vocal melodies, anthemic choruses for singing along and nice guitar melodies and hooks are all here. The lyrics are critics to the overall situation, sure but somehow through prism of small, ordinary man and his/her eyes. There are couple of really hard hitters on this record, for me being ‘Road To Philly’, ‘Revolt’, ‘The Time Is Now’ and ‘By My Side’. This is a beautiful punk rock album.
