New Jersey-basedindie rock outfit QUIZ SHOW presents their eponymous debut album, released via Montclair, NJ-based Magic Door Record Label. Two new powerhouse tracks are now streamable – ‘Almost Famous’and‘Sound of Kissing’. This invigorating collection of 12 tracks involves SHUDDER TO THINK members CHRIS MATTHEWS and JESSE KRAKOW, together with drummer KEVIN MARCH (GUIDED BY VOICES, THE DAMBUILDERS).

Recorded with award-winning producer RAY KETCHEM (Guided By Voices, Luna, Versus, Elk City, Gramercy Arms) at his Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, The ‘Quiz Show’ LP is full of protest, friendship and frustration. Tapping the energy of punk rock with its loud guitars and driving rhythms, the vocals strive to capture the emotional fervour of punky garage rock.

The eclectic duo Ghost in the Machine, consisting of artists C4 and Face, is known for their thundering grooves, heavy guitars, and lush electronics. They have now taken a new journey through Pat Benatar’s ‘Heartbreaker’ with their latest single, ‘Crushed & Shattered.’

A Tribute to Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker

‘We wanted to pay tribute by reinterpreting the tone and the lyric to deliver an unpredictable experience’, says Ghost in the Machine about their unique take on Pat Benatar’s classic song.

‘Crushed & Shattered’ explores two cover versions of ‘Heartbreaker’. The ‘Crushed’ version is a moody, mostly acoustic reinterpretation focusing on the heaviness of the lyrics and organic instruments, emoting the anguish of a heartbroken soul. The ‘Shattered’ version deconstructs the song into a foreboding industrial experiment, stinging with pain and resentment as broken hearts bleed into tortured vocals and zombified guitars at a hopeless end.

ALL BANDS CONFIRMED: Dortmund Deathfest Announces Complete Lineup for 2023

Dortmund Deathfest, the ultimate death metal event of 2023, has announced its complete lineup for the festival’s first edition. Mike Heinemann and Lukas Swiaczny, the festival’s organizers, have confirmed 22 bands set to perform across two stages at the Junkyard Club, promising a feast for metalheads from all over the world.
 

The Dortmund Deathfest will take place on August 4th and 5th, 2023 at the Junkyard Club in Dortmund, Germany. Single-day tickets will be available in April, while weekend tickets are already available at https://www.deinetickets.de/shop/dd23/de/start.
 

The festival’s main stage is located outdoors and will feature some of the biggest names in death metal, including Kataklysm, Deicide, I am Morbid, Bloodbath and Krisiun who are set to deliver bone-crushing performances that will leave the audience begging for more. The second stage, located indoors, will showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent in the genre, with bands such as Baest, Gutalax, Brand of Sacrifice, Stillbirth and Coffin Feeder among the acts scheduled to perform.
