(review) As Friends Rust – ‘Any Joy’ (End Hits Records)

Legendary As Friends Rust are back with new release containing seven songs. What to expect here? Seven songs of excellent melodic hardcore punk like we are used to from this phenomenal band. There are some mid tempo emotional punk rock songs like awesome ‘Final Form’ but it is not everything in speed isn’t it? The said song has such nice melodic vocal lines, harsh when needed and melodic when needed, so sweet! ‘Positive Mental Platitude’ continues where the previous song left off being even better with fine written smart lyrics over fine tuned melody and energetic punk rock, melodic hardcore. ‘See Us Now’ is a clever mixture of rock and hardcore in one song, with gentle chorus and more harsher verses being thrown at you and adding some groove with melody. One of my favorites on this record is ‘Great Filter’ being a perfect combination of melody, aggression and punk sensibility. ‘The Walking Debt’ has harshest verse on the album evolving into beautiful chorus to make goosebumps upon your skin. Fastest straightforward hardcore punk song on this record is definitely ‘Origin Stories’, old school hardcore anthem, angry and energetic. One of my personal highlights is ‘No Gods, Some Masters’ which closes the album being perfect song. For sure, one of the best releases this year.

novo izdanje: Mötley Crüe – The Dirt: Declassified.

Američki glam rockeri Mötley Crüe proslavili su se početkom ’80-ih, a
dosad su prodali više od 100 milijuna albuma diljem svijeta. Vince
Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee i Mick Mars dobro su poznata imena, no
strip Leah Moore stavlja ih u novu perspektivu:
što ako samo mislite da znate priču o bendu?

“The Dirt: Declassified” na više od stotinu stranica razotkriva bend
kao specijalne vladine tajne agente koji u tajnosti rješavaju probleme
od svjetske važnosti. Okosnica priče je neobična bolest koja zahvaća
mlade diljem svijeta pretvarajući ih praktički u zombije, pa Mötley
Crüe moraju ponovno poći na turneju kako bi doznali što se zbiva.

Retrospektiva otkriva i da su Neil, Sixx, Lee i Mars imali svoje prste
u velikim povijesnim događajima, od rušenja Berlinskog zida do
pomaganja Billu Gatesu u nastanku interneta,
te podsjeća na ključne biografske trenutke benda.

French metal band The Hill Is Burning release new album “From Alpha To Omega”

“From Alpha To Omega” is the second album by The Hill Is Burning, Metal Band from Reunion Island! This album transports you into the different worlds of Death/Thrash metal!

The band go from the fast and brutal “Worms”, through the atmospheric “Tank In a Forest”, to the melodic “The Dreamer”, if you like big distortion guitars, rumbling double bass drums, and angry vocals. , you will appreciate the new album of The Hill Is Burning, produced by Chris Clancy, at audioworks production,England!”

The Band

Influenced by Sepultura, Nevermore, Coroner, Neurosis and Gojira, the group The Hill is Burning was born in November 2015, at the initiative of Cédric Quéré,Vocal/guitar. The Hill Is Burning’s first album, “Last Bullet”, was released on digital platforms in March 2020. But the shadow of Covid 19 hanging over the music industry is jeopardizing this long- awaited release.

The Hill Is Burning begins the year 2022 with the creation of new compositions: more direct songs, textures and a different sound universe, marked by new effects. Following this compositional work and in a moment of madness, the group ventured to contact Colin Richardson, the producer of… Machine Head (“Burn my eyes”, that’s him!), Slipknot, Sepultura, Carcass or even Napalm Death.

Ten tracks were recorded in Reunion Island and sent to England to be fully mixed and mastered at Audioworks Studio. The first single, “The Dreamer” was released on March 24, 2023, and has been ranked in the top 10 of South American Rock radio stations for more than 3 months.

The band has performed several concerts since January, and is preparing to do several dates until the end of the year, including the night of Kal, a reference for Réunion metal, as the first part of “AKIAVEL” in the month of October.
