Alt Rock/Dream Pop band Female President release new single “Enflamed In Effigy”

Alt Rock/Dream pop band Female President release new single “Enflamed In Effigy”

Female President is writing and recording their second EP ‘The Healing Ritual’. Healing is a tough and chaotic process, it often takes pain and discomfort to create motivation to change. Often when you work on making your life or circumstances better, you find yourself surrounded by strangers and outside of your comfort zone. The Healing Ritual explores the roller coaster ride from pain to peace.

“Enflamed In Effigy” was a slow burn, building in stages since 2020. The riff, tempo, and melody came to Dréa in 2020, tuning in like a distant radio signal, crackling static with power riffs breaking through. The lyrics came in layers, all inspired by current events and world tragedies. Mother is Earth, but Mother is also the broken-hearted mom helplessly watching the smoldering ashes of the home she built rise into the air, holding the remains of her dying child in a war-torn country or sending her sickly kids to bed hungry again while other children mine cobalt for cell phones and executives make the ozone bigger with luxurious travel. We are standing on the brink of massive change, we can’t go back to ignorance. We have to push through and make this world a better place.

ABOUT FEMALE PRESIDENT

An American family trio inspired by early roots of rock n roll; simplistic riffs that groove and dynamics that build to a fever pitch. Starting during the pandemic as a way to cope with canceled tours and shuttered venues, Female President writes songs with an honest grit and emotional vibe that you can groove to and rock out. Combining their unique playing styles and genuine love of music, Female President is an energized modern rock band with a sound all its own.

Post hardcore Casey release agnostic new single ‘Selah’Post hardcore

Vocalist Tom Weaver comments: “This song was actually named by Liam [Torrance, guitar]; it was a word that I wasn’t familiar with, but I think it fits the song perfectly. ‘Selah’ is “an expression occurring frequently in the Psalms, thought to be a liturgical or musical direction, probably a direction to raise the voice or perhaps an indication of a pause”. I’ve had a turbulent relationship with religion throughout most of my life. I’ve always comfortably considered myself an agnostic, but in moments of desperation I’ve definitely sought out reassurance from a being outside of myself. My overwhelming feeling towards religion is that at its best it provides a sense of belonging and community; and at its worst it serves to absolve accountability. In moments of crisis, I’ve often posed that question of “If you’re there, why are you doing this to me?. ‘Selah’ articulates that question with examples from my life. Near-death experiences or moments of pain that feel as though they shouldn’t happen beneath the benevolent gaze of something greater.

The new album caps off a joyous return for the quintet, reuniting in 2023, with seven huge shows in the UK and Germany, and the limited release of their 7” Atone/Great Grief (Hassle Records).

Casey, at its core, was grounded in the notion that music is a labour of love. Without expectation of success, without desire to attain stardom, just a shared yearning to create music – and when this no longer rang true Casey stayed true to themselves, and stepped away.

In late 2018, when Casey announced they were bringing the band to a close, it felt like a premature demise. Their first two LPs – 2016 Love Is Not Enough and 2018’s Where I Go When I Am Sleeping – had firmly established the Welsh five-piece as one of the most exciting bands in Britain’s alternative scene.

Now, years later, the band have returned – bigger and better than ever before. Casey don’t just replicate the feelings that inspire them – they embody them.
