Italian pop punx Sunset Radio Announce The New Album ‘Thank You, Goodbye!’

Third album for the five Romagna pop-punkers Sunset Radio, a sweaty, tough record by many points of view. Through pandemic, grasshoppers, aliens and so on, Sunset Radio will release “Thank You, Goodbye!” on November 25th in all digital stores.

Nine tracks ranging from a classic Californian pop-punk, up to ballads and alternative energetic songs in which there is no shortage of tight guitars and fast drums, a clear signature of the quintet from Ravenna: “It is without doubt the most mature and strenuous work we have ever done and we look forward to sharing it with all of you” says the band.

(review) Cockney Rejects – Power Grab

Sons of East London, legendary Cockney Rejects are back with new full length album. I must admit that I have never been a big fan of this band, but I did not pay attention to their albums, apart of few anthems that everybody knew from Oi compilations. Well, the new album is here. There are fourteen songs on this one, celebrating 40 years of being undefeated and other merry street punk themes like being stabbed in the back, not having your heart in the scene, fighting if attacked, celebrating life and living every day like there is no tomorrow…Lyrics are great because I always love such themes in punk and hardcore bands. But, music is another thing. There are couple of songs that stand out as highlights, like Paper Tiger, Stab In The Back or my personal favorite being My Heart Ain´t In It. But, other is just too hard rock, with couple of nwobhm influenced guitar songwriting. Melodies are okay in some choruses but I never quite liked hard rock influenced punk, so this one could have been much better than it really is. At the end of the album there is a cover of Tom Petty´s Learning To Fly sounding practically same as original. There are more songs that somehow passed under my radar as fillers than anthems. Okay album but nothing special.

(movies) Bodies Bodies Bodies(2022) starts as fun, but could have been so much more

This started as your usual slasher movie with a group of friends inhabiting big house in the woods, bathing in pool, just having fun and enjoying themselves. Enter Sophie and Bee, gay couple who just arrived and Sophie was absent for a while with drug problems. We can see some tensions between the group, like especially between Sophie and Jordan. Storm rises and our heroes move inside and start to play a game called Bodies bodies bodies, with false murderer killing someone and others have to investigate the case. When their host David gets killed for real, they search for culprit, paranoia and tension, also body count rises….

Well, this one was directed by Halina Reijn, Dutch actress known for starring in Paul Verhoeven´s Black Book, also in Tom Cruise´s Valkyrie among other movies, also written by Sarah DeLappe and it was somewhere, I think it was on Bloody Disgusting page advertised as LGBTQ slasher horror. I don´t see why, because besides some bisexual storylines, besides main two characters being gay, there is absolutely nothing that indicates that. First half of the movie, as killings start it was fun to watch with characterization of protagonists evolving, discovering kept secrets, hatred, envy and other ugly feelings that came to the surface. It was also fun to think for me as a viewer who the killer might be, playing with thoughts although the ending twist is kind of disappointing with let down. I think that they wanted to make something different with this one than your typical slasher movie, but the direction they went could have been so much better explored. But, this is not bad movie indeed. But, could have been so much better.
