(movie) Witches in the Woods is a solid psychological horror.

I must admit that I had absolutely no expectations from this one. I thought to myself, this is another teen horror slasher or something, just one in endless row of bad horror, like it is delivered in recent couple of years. But, fortunately I was wrong. The story evolves around group of friends who drive with their SUV somewhere in shithole back country and learn that some witches were hung there in the woods. Like it usually is in our beloved genre, instead of moving on, they decide to go there. And what happens? Their SUV breaks down. They are stranded in snow and all the psychological issues start to come out as something lurks for them in the darkness and cold. Is it witches or only their psyche? Well, this one had some spooky moments for me. There are almost no gore and bloody scenes, just a little, so you gore fiends skip this one. This is pure psychological mental break horror and I loved it. The ending could be better and it left some questions in the movie unanswered but I guess that is the way it must be in movies such as this one. The acting is not well, but decent and Jordan Barker directed this one okay and I have nothing against this movie. Not special, but decent.

(movie review) Extraction is action shootout instant classic!

Now, I have heard only praise for this one from others that watched it. I had no expectations, but boy, was I surprised. Chris Hemsworth plays Tyler, hardcore mercenary, he and his team are in a business of saving teenage boy, son of mafia boss, who was abducted by another boss to humiliate the father who is in prison.

Tyler and his crew come to the city and manage to save the boy, but then things go wrong and Tyler and the boy must shoot their way through the whole city to get to extraction point. Tyler must fight gangs, kids, police, special forces and mafia goons. Based upon graphic novel called Ciudad this  one is an instant classic for all fans of mindless shootout action packed movies in the vein of legendary Raid. This one is full of flying bullets, explosions, snipers, death and full on intense old school action movie. Hemsworth is ideal for such role of experienced yet traumatized mercenary, the villains are also great, typical for such movies and I really enjoyed this one. If you are a fan of such movies as Raid, go see this one you will not regret it.

(movie) VAMPYR(1932) is a creepy masterpiece and a must watch classic!

I don´t know how I missed this one all these years. This 1932 German horror masterpiece is a classic everyone who is in love with the genre should see. The movie evolves around a drifter who is obsessed with paranormal and supernatural who stumbles upon a lonely inn house and weird things start to happen right there.

Carl Theodor Dreyer and co-wrote this movie based on a book by legendary Sheridan  Le Fanu. The movie is heavy with atmosphere of unknown and carrying some ominous and heavy vibe in itself, with our main protagonist wandering around hearing weird sounds at night in the house, meeting all kind of weird persona and the fog and swampy area in which the movie is situated are so gloomy and bleak that they add to the heaviness of the movie. The actors are superb, especially Julian West  as the main protagonist and Maurice Schutz as the Lord of the Manor., mainly acting with their face expressions and sometimes you can see pure horror on their faces. Murnau´s Nosferatu is untouchable classic per se, but this one is better in my opinion, although done ten years later than the said movie. The story is full, no fillers there and the ending of the movie is kinda dreamy and poetic adding to the impact this one had one me and left me in awe and thinking about it later, which is not often case with modern horror movies. There are no blood gore baths in this one, there are no spectacular murders, but if you love your horror atmospheric, slow and creepy this one is a classic every collection which respects itself must posses!
