Last band line-up updates for Brutal Assault in 2019.are here!

Bands update 2019-12-23

Here comes a little Christmas present!

Does Christmas time terrorize you with all the omni-present carols? How about we add some real TERROR?! Yep, one of the heaviest and most popular bands on the scene shall return to the crime scene where they shot the „Spirit of Sacrifice“ video two years ago. Another band that knows a lot about the spirit of sacrifice but this time for death metal is one of the most influential bands of the genre. Let’s see what is gonna be your cause of death after OBITUARY are done with you!

Call it blackgaze, shoegaze or post-something, but only ALCEST can conjure up the soul-grabbing atmospheres that you can find on their latest output Spiritual Instinct. Another band to cover our fortress in its unique sound will be FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, one of the most important EBM acts that has also helped to set direction for the electro-industrial scene. The next act on the list also likes to indulge in the use of electronics, but its experimental sound stems from noise rock and grind. That being said, you easily cannot put any genre label on them. And when we reveal they come from Japan and also utilize weirdo vocals you’ll be able to make the connection that we are probably talking about MELT-BANANA!

At Brutal Assault we can’t ever have enough death metal, especially when certain Frank Mullen is behind the microphone. And especially when he shall be fronting the show for the last time. Yep, the crème de la crème of US death metal SUFFOCATION shall rip BA apart with Frank for the last time in 2020! It is said that our next band inspired the sound of Pantera by the dawn of 90s, however then they didn’t release anything for 27 years. Until this year. And they’re back in a great shape, so we are sure EXHORDER and their new album „Mourn the Southern Skies” will make an impact next summer.

Now let’s get some atmosphere back into the mix. NAILED TO OBSCURITY make the death/doom wheels turn with their strong melancholic melodies while Greg Mackintosh connects the next two bands. PARADISE LOST keep the flame of English gothic doom alive and on top of that Greg’s morbid alter-ego STRIGOI takes over the reins of his black-ish graveyard old school death/crust/grind output after the demise of Vallenfyre.

Have a rocking holiday and a great New Year full of heavy music!

Ink Bomb releases acoustic Bad Religion cover for charity today

Dutch punk band Ink Bomb is selling a cover for charity from today. This year the Nijmegen foursome has chosen for their own acoustic take on the Bad Religion song Cease. They are selling this at a minimum price of 3 euros. The band will donate all proceeds to Brigada de Alter, an organization that tries to combat forest fires in the Amazone.

Live recording
For this fourth edition of their annual donation cover Ink Bomb chose a new approach: “This year we wanted to challenge ourselves. Normally we’d record with just guitar and vocals but now we wanted a full band co-op. That’s why we also used bass, percussion and keys. We also had the opportunity to collaboratively record in a studio. This enhances the intimacy as well as the live-feel of the song,” according to guitarist Quirijn Foeken.

Instore tour in Nijmegen (NL)
To garner more attention for this release Ink Bomb will be performing several sets in the city center of their home town Nijmegen on December 22. “The fun thing is that people cannot only donate online but also in real life,” explains bassist Arina Banga. The instore tour takes the band to library De Mariënburg, record store Waaghals and comic store Señor Hernandez.

Choice
Brigada de Alter is a voluntary fire department group, that partly consists of members who live in tribal communities in the Amazone. Because of measures taken by the current Brazilian government the Amazone forests are facing more and more pressure. In coordination with the punk rock charity Minor Operation Donations the proceeds will be used to buy safety gear, oxygen masks and helmets for the organization.
Buying the cover
Everyone can listen to the cover for free on Bandcamp. Whoever wants to buy the song as an MP3 and in this way wants to donate to Brigada de Alter, can do so in two ways
– Transfer 3 euros to account number NL76TRIO0379211440 with name Q.O.B. Foeken with reference to ‘donation2019’ and your mail address. In this way the whole amount is donated to Brigada de Alter. The band will send you the MP3 by mail.
– Buy the cover on Ink Bomb’s Bandcamp page using Paypal or a credit card. Because Bandcamp and Paypal charge administration costs 70% of the donated amount via this route will be donated to Brigada de Alter.

Biography
When the members of Dutch melodic punk rock band Ink Bomb stepped in their practice space for the first time in 2015, they never met before. Fast forward a few years later and the band released two EPs, three singles for different charities and finally their debut album Fiction (August 2019). Fiction is the culmination of their hard work over these past few years and showcases the band’s trademark sound: fast, aggressive songs that might not always follow standard song structure, but always features great melodies with a healthy dose of melancholy.

The release of the EPs Invincible Summer (2016) and Swim (2017) piqued the interest of people from many corners of the earth, leading to shows in multiple countries as well as praise in a variety of magazines, websites, radio shows and podcasts. The band has been compared to scene veterans such as Bad Religion, No Fun At All, Pulley and Ten Foot Pole.

Another defining trademark of Ink Bomb is their preference to do everything themselves: recording and mixing songs, writing press releases, booking shows and releasing records. This might originate from the DIY ethos in the punk rock scene but is probably a result of their stubbornness. The effort that the band puts in creating Fiction, resulted in a record that is above all a perfect representation of everything that is Ink Bomb.
