Like ripping bolts of lightning from the sky, REVEREND HORTON HEAT unleash smoldering electricity with “Whole New Life,” the lead single and music video from their new album, aptly titled Whole New Life. The album will be available everywhere via Victory Records on November 30, 2018.

“Whole New Life” Now Playing.

From his signature Gretsch guitar, Jim ‘Reverend Horton’ Heath summons a bounty of rock ‘n’ roll flavors and Whole New Life is the perfect example of how a great song can hook you instantly. Also featuring longtime slap-bass general Jimbo Wallace, the eleven track blockbuster features new sticksman Arjuna ‘RJ’ Contreras whose jazz and rock qualifications brought a distinctive new backbeat to the legendary rockabilly duo. A flashy, young pianist named Matt Jordan, possessing all the pomp and power of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard, rounds out the lineup. Heath expands, “I love playing with these guys, it truly is a whole new band, so the title fits perfectly. It is appropriate for what Jimbo, RJ, Matt and I are going through. We’re really enjoying our career right now and it’s all a little new for each of us.”

Recording the album in their hometown of Dallas, Heath recalls that “Back in the 1950’s, reverb chambers were really hip and I always loved their warmth and production value. It really sent me to this whole other headspace where I worked with a lot of vintage gear on this album – some of which I built myself for a truly unique sound – ribbon, old tube microphones, pre-amps and stuff. Creating Whole New Life brought out something in my vocals where I am screaming more and making more throaty sounds. It’s got some Louisiana feel to it, such as the New Orleans tribute ‘Tchoupitoulas Street,’ a bit of gruff and some Roy Orbison style in it, which the tune ‘Perfect’ is a nod to.”

“This tour started around 1986,” Heath chuckles dryly. Averaging nearly 200 performances a year, REVEREND HORTON HEAT have been teasing fans with new cuts from Whole New Life this year, but the Texas troubadours truly kick off their first leg behind Whole New Life with the annual Horton’s Holiday Hayride, beginning November 27 in Omaha, NE before taking a holiday break as the run winds down in Birmingham, AL on December 22. As touring through 2019 is on the horizon, Heath quips, “I’m afraid I’m on the Willie Nelson retirement program, which means I’ll never retire.”

The songs were taken from their first LP “Interesting Times”.

After bunch of ep-s, mini lp, split with Max Cady and some compilation songs it’s high time for Lazy Class first full album. “Interesting Times” contains 14 songs that combines melody and energy, modern sound referenced with some classic touch, socio-political lyrics with some more personal stuff. If you liked what Warsaw boys were making before you’ll be content. Now it’s just more and better!
“Interesting Times” will be released on vinyl by Contra Records (Germany) and Oldschool Records (Poland). CD version will be released by their own label TNT Tunes. Release date: 6th December 2018.

(news)Greg Rekus (Canadian punk) announces new tour Canadian / US tour dates!

greg rekus

With an acoustic guitar in his hands and a giant stomp box under his feet, Winnipeg’s GREG REKUS delivers his own unique brand of punk rock-infused folk music guaranteed to shake rafters, move floorboards, and get even the most stoic of concert-goers out of their seats.

Rekus’s latest full-length album, “Sibling Cities”, once again enlists the genius of John Paul Peters (Royal Canoe, Comeback Kid Propagandhi) as engineer / producer. With more mature and insightful lyrics, tasteful arrangements, and diverse tempos, Sibling Cities is evidence of a musician devoted to refining his craft and can be considered among Rekus’ best work to date.

After a successful European tour, Greg is now ready for a huge tour through Canada and the United States! All dates can be found on the official tour poster.

My past Europe tour was great! I hit a lot of usual places in the UK, France, Italy, Western and Eastern Europe (…), but also did a few new places, like Greece, or places I don’t get to enough like Czech! I also got to tour with some wonderful friends and always reminded how awesome the DIY scene is. The hospitality in Europe was like no other places.

For me, playing live is everything. I mean, I’m very, very proud of my records and every time I hear them, I still can’t quite believe it’s me and stuff. However, playing live is where the extra bit of magic between you and the audience lives. Where it goes from playing songs to becoming an experience for the audience as well as myself. My live show is all about the crowd and they play a huge role which not only makes each show unique for them but myself also.

Playing in other cities, especially places you have never been, is just an extension of this. There have been so many times I’ve played in front of people that not only I don’t know, but I don’t think they really understand English. And somehow virtually, every time, we still connect on some level.
