(record review)NOTHING I KNOW-“The cold human heart e.p.”(Indelirium Records)

Nothing I Know are Italian hardcore band that were already featured on the pages of this zine with their awesome new video for the song taken off this brand new e.p. out via Indelirium Records. I listened and reviewed the e.p. for this webzine.

The band has been in existence since 2010.and after one studio album and several lineup changes this e.p. is their second studio effort. This record contains 6 songs. These guys played more metalcore sound in their earlier days and with this new material they went to more hardcore sound though they didn´t lose aggressivity and energy. The music played here would be described as new school hardcore earlier in the 90-ies, meaning the sound played by the bands such as Earth Crisis, Strife, Integrity and similar…I am more of a fan of punkier hardcore sound but this is quality metallic hardcore and I am sure fans of such hardcore style will love this record and enjoy this band. Top songs: “The Cold Human Heart” and “In My Life”.

(record review)The LessOffs-“The LessOffs e.p.”(FirstOff Records)

Punkrock scene is like a living being. It makes you discover new great bands and labels on a daily basis, so this time I had a privilege to listen to the debut e.p. of The LessOffs, punkrock band from Riverside, California that came out on FirstOff Records.

The LessOffs play melodic punkrock done with heart and balls. The record contains 5 songs with anthemic choruses, nice melodies just made for singing along and jumping and pogoing at the show. The guys don´t forget a nod to the old influences, so I can hear some Ramones and The Descendents in the song structures. The lyrics are more personal, as I understand the songs, laced with a bit of autoirony and emotion. The vocals are great, and so are backing harmonies with a lot of parts made for you to sing along with. For me, the best songs on the record are “Nothing more” and “The reckoning” being true punkrock anthems. This is not fast stuff, so if you are a fan of the faster, more skatepunk hardcore stuff, you will not find your new favourite band here, but if you are a fan of melodic punkrock done with emotion behind the music and heart and soul, you will spin this record around and around. I know I will.

(record review)Running From Daylight-“Elvis Ain´t Dead Yet”

Running From Daylight are coming from London, Ontario and they play interesting combination of horrorbilly and horrorpunk. I listened and reviewed their recently published new album for my webzine.

The album contains 7 songs of melodic horrorbilly pumping your fist up in the air and howling with joy when you hear the melody and anthem such as “Full Moon Rising” or “Dead Man´s Crossing”. This is nothing new or revolutionary but I loved every single minute of this record. Production wise, the album is awesome, courtesy of Ryan Izzard at The Music Farm and mastered by Rene “D La Muerte” Garcia at Batcave Studios. The musicianship on this record it tight. What amazed me the most about this record is easiness with which the guys jump from punkrock to rockabilly and psychobilly and back again. Great album! Get it and drop a line or two to the guys from the band because I am sure it would mean a lot to them to hear some positive and uplifting words about their hard work!
