AntEater are skatepunk from Canada and I must admit that I have never heard of this band prior to listening to this record.
This record contains 8 excellent skatepunk songs with a lot of hardcore and metal influences and if I must compare their music with some band it would be Straightline because both bands are playing awesome and really know their music and are very metalic and the vocals are shouted and screamed but the song structures never lose energy flow and they make you wanna slam all over your room and stage dive from your favorite couch in the living room. From the brutal “Too Soon?” with almost metalcore vibe to more melodic and anthemic and heartfelt “Cant Wake Up” and “Jacks Hill” which is my personal favorite on the record, this album is non stop music, energy and anger held in one little universe and I am really very happy that AntEater made me part of their universe while listening to their record.
So Long Until the Seance or Sluts formed upon the ashes and parts of previous Belfast bands in 2014.as a side project that became full time band.
This is their second e.p. and it contains three songs of utter darkness, sleaze, depravity, evil carnage. I expected some music in the vein of Wednesday 13, Murderdolls and stuff but I was wrong. When I first listened to “A Stake Through My Heart” I was blown apart by anthemic melodic chorus with excellent vocal lines that reminded me of Michale Graves in his best songs. The song is a perfect blend of modern horrorpunk and metal with a respectful nod towards old masters and influences. Loved it! The songs are recorded in different studios over the course of 2017.but that fact in no way affected the great song structures. “The Bride of Frankenstein” has some great guitar hooks coupled with great melodies and aggression for singing and slamming at the same time. “Devil in Disguise” is possibly my favorite track on the ep with some nostalgic melodies in vocal and guitar lines and I listened to the song couple of time in a row. Awesome ep, cant wait for some more material!
The new Goatmare and the Hellspades album is out finally! I have been waiting for this album for a long time and when I heard some of the new songs live I knew that the album will be awesome.
The mainman Slavko Goatmare and crew really did it this time. The album contains intro plus 13 tracks of excellent horrorpunk. The new songs are logical continuation where the debut album left off. The lyrics are in Serbian language with a lot of gore stuff but also some tongue in cheek black humour. The song structures are very melodic and just make you sing and hum to the excellent tunes all the time. This band really took the top and became the crown jewel of horrorpunk scene in this region together with Croatian Saucesce. Even if you are not from ex Yugoslavia or Serbia area, you should definitely check out and listen to Goatmare and the Hellspades because this band is awesome. If you want lyric translation, ask them and I am sure they will explain them and translate them to English forya.
