(knjiga za fanove)Matthew Stover-“Star Wars:Revenge of the Sith”

stover

Moja fascinacija traje i dok sam živ ću voljeti Star Wars.

(record review)REACH-“Demo”

cover

It is hard to write something objective about the band in which one of the guys is your friend, but I will try. This new band is hailing from Slovenia, Prekmurje area, near to my hometown in the north of Croatia. This is their first demo consisting of three songs namely “Who”, “The Walk” and “Puppets”. Reach play brutal metallic modern version of hardcore with brutal growling vocals mixed with some clean spoken word, double bass drumming and cutting merciless guitar hooks. This kind of hardcore is a little too slow for me because I am an old school asshole who prefers faster stuff with more punk influences but this is nicely done demo and stuff just made for moshing, so support the guys, book them gig or two, buy their merch and listen to their stuff! I am sure the next material will be even better!

(record review)NO TURNING BACK-“No Time To Waste”(Take Control Records)

no turning back no time to waste

It is hard to believe that this Dutch hardcore band tears their way through the stages and the scene for 20 years now! They became one of the better known and loved European hardcore bands through their records, their openess and their friendship and loyalty to hardcore. They played on almost all the important festivals and toured all over, so they also played my home country Croatia couple of times. Time to talk a bit about the new record. The album contains 12 songs of pure hardcore in the 1990-s vein, meaning fast drumming, energetic songs, shouted vocals with lot of jumping and singalong choruses. The first two songs, “I wont fall” and “Hold on tight” are fast energetic anthems with some groovy hooks telling the all known well story about never giving up and holding on. “Heart of stone” is a personal vent about broken friendship and emotions. There are also more engaged songs on the record like “Sick society” that deals with greed, envy, chaos and fear. “End this war” starts with merciless groove that develops into fast drumming and pure energy. But in my opinion the true anthems and best songs from this record are “Turn the tide” and “Together” that remind you when listening why is hardcore so beautiful and the best music in the world. Everyone who loves this band and this kind of hardcore will love them even more, those that dont go listen to something else.
