Philadelphia’s own Crossed Keys released their Hellminded Records debut, Saviors, on October 4th. The melodic punk quintet features former members of Kid Dynamite, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, and The Curse. Saviors is comprised of seven songs that offer a fresh take on the melodic punk-hardcore played in the tri-state underground scene of the late 90’s and early aughts. This release will certainly resonate with fans of Samiam, The Bomb, and The Loved Ones. The band put together a lyric video for the track “Times of Grace” which is made up of a joyride around various neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Fall in love with the City of Brotherly Love and with Crossed Keys by watching the video now at The Bad Copy.

WATCH: TIMES OF GRACE

Bio:

“Set fire to all that you hold dear, so you don’t have to face your fears,” sings vocalist Joshua Alvarez (Halo of Snakes) in reflection of moving past the things that hold us back.  After playing in numerous bands around Philadelphia over the years, the members of Crossed Keys bring their varied experiences together to create a unique, driving melodic sound.

Alvarez is joined by drummer Dave Wagenschutz (Kid Dynamite, Good Riddance), bassist Andrew Wellbrock (Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer), and guitarists Beau Brendley (The Curse, Kill The Man Who Questions, R.A.M.B.O.) and Dave Adoff (Step Ahead, Jackie Thousand).  “Saviors” was recorded over a weekend in May 2019 at Noisy Little Critter in Downington, PA by Mike Bardzik (Joyce Manor, Kill Your Idols, Spraynard) and mastered at West West Side Music (The Misfits, Converge).

From the wistfulness of “Times of Grace” recalling shared times in basements and firehalls to the frustration of inaction voiced in the title track, “Saviors” is seven tales of gratefulness for all of those moments and people in our lives that led us to this point.

Crossed Keys has played venues all over the tri-state area, supporting bands such as H2O, Dave Hause & The Mermaid, The Lillingtons, Good Riddance, Shades Apart, and Strike Anywhere.

(review) ITCHY-Ja Als Ob(Findaway Records/Soulfood)

Itchy from Germany have been in the scene for a long time, releasing seven albums, playing numerous tours and enjoying their time sharing stage with greatest bands in the punkrock scene. What the band didn`t do is make an album in their native German language and this time, with their eight album they did just that. New album contains 13 songs in their trademark deutschpunk/melodic punk/pop punk sound. The title track sounds a bit strange, like mixture of industrial, pop punk but really interesting. There are also more straightforward melodic punk songs like Faust, one of my favorites on the record. I understand German, so I can relate to the good lyrics written for this album. Ich wollte noch which features guest performance by Sebastian Madsen is also one of my favorites on the album having such sad beautiful melody in the chorus. The songs I must mention as being my highlights of the album are Unser Lied and Gegen den Wind. Not to discover just all, get your copy if you love your punkrock melodic and interesting.

(review) God Dethroned-Illuminati(Metal Blade)

folder

God Dethroned are back with a blast! The new album by mastermind Henri Sattler and the gang contains 9 songs and this time they deliver a tour de force in melodic, energetic death black metal. The title song provides groove beginning, later evolving into epic fast melodic black death anthem and the video was made for this, chosen as single announcing the record. Also, one of the highlights for me is Book Of Lies sounding epic and melodic at the same time. Trademark Sattler˙s vocals dominate the record, but also clean melodic vocal parts enrich the song structure in Spirit of Beelzebub, thus making this song even better contrasting between brutal and clean singing. Lyrically, God Dethroned deal with illuminati, secret societies and conspiracies of clandestine rulers of the world, adding satanic feel to it and making this album for sure one of the top three albums by these Dutch legends.
