(record review)H_NGM_N-I don´t want to go home(Real Ghost Records)

H_ngm_n are Brighton, UK based duo which makes great music and I am very lucky that I was able to listen and review their new record for this zine. Out on Real Ghost Records.

This duo creates power driven music with the sound that someone would call distinctly UK melodic sound, but their powerful pop punk/melodic punkrock melodies are so much more. This record contains 4 heartfilled songs that somehow make you sad and full of sorrow while listening, but at the end you are left with a lot of hope which brings back the smile on your face.

The vocals are just perfect, as are backing vocal harmonies, neither snotty, nor whining, this guys know how to play and how to sing their songs. As one can expect, the lyrics are personal, heartwarming, heartbreaking and I love punkrock which has great amount of emotions behind the music. For me personally, Happy Birthday somehow worked the best, being the song in my opinion and taste slightly above the other three, but in all, this is a great record.

(news) RADAR STATE Featuring (The Get Up Kids’ Matt Pryor and Jim Suptic, The Anniversary’s Josh Berwanger and The Architects’/The Gadjits’ Adam Phillips) Signs with Wiretap Records

RADAR_STATE_STRAYS

Kansas City, MO’s Radar State— made up of emo/indie rock heroes Matt Pryor and Jim Suptic (The Get Up Kids), Josh Berwanger (The Anniversary/Berwanger) and Adam Phillips (The Architects/The Gadjits) — have signed with LA-based Wiretap Records and will release their debut LP ‘Strays’ in January 2019.

The band has announced tour dates in support of the upcoming album (see dates below). Tickets for all shows are on sale now.

The follow up to last spring’s self-titled debut 7″ EP, ‘Strays’ features artwork by Mondo Art Director and designer Jay Shaw http://www.kingdomofnonsense.com.

The band says, “We are very excited to get our first full-length album Strays out and play the songs live. Last year we did Riot Fest and a tour with Say Anything but only had the 3-song 7″ out. Now people will be able to get familiar with the songs instead of just hearing them for the first time. We’ll also have a robotic chimpanzee doing merch for us. He doesn’t know how to count change so he’s pretty easy to rip off.”

(record review)Atlas For Home-Late Bloomer e.p.(Red Toad Music)

Atlas For Home are French band from Paris that started in 2013. They just released their new record out on Red Toad Music and I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

This new e.p.contains 6 songs of melody, emotion and pop influenced melodic punkrock alternative. If I must mention who this band reminds me a bit that would be Blink-182, The Starting Line and Biffy Clyro. This new record is band˙s second e.p. four years after the first one. The lyrics of the songs are personal and they deal with identity search, friendship, love, surviving in the today˙s fast world and similar themed songs. The vocals are very important for me in this kind of music and this band has very nice vocals, neither snotty or too poppy just right and feel good for this music, also backing harmonies fit in well and I loved it. This music is perfect for listening on the sunny Saturday morning, while drinking coffee, tidying up the apartment and preparing your lunch. Easy peasy but awesome. The favorite songs: Home, The Talk.
