Out in Style are Brasilian/Canadian melodic hardcore punk band and this is their second full length album that recently came out.
What do we get here? We have twelve songs of superb emotional driven melodic hardcore punk, somehow melancholic when listening, and it suits me just fine that way. Kinda sad vibe in the song structures, with some acoustic more atmospheric parts like for example awesome When Night Falls Fast at the beginning of the song, evolving into my personal favorite on the record. The lyrics are more personal and I can totally relate to them. The vocals are great, backing vocal harmonies too, and it is important for such bands to have great vocal lines added to already melodic guitar work. Other songs that I recommend as favorites are Time Is Passing By, Broken Inside and Today Is The Past. Superb stuff if you are into melodic, emotional hardcore punk. 9/10
Another great band that comes from mighty Southamerican scene, from Santos, Brasil. Soul Mate are from there and they play a mixture of melodic punkrock and hardcore. This e.p. contains 6 songs, one of them being kind of intro to the rest of the material. The music changes from fast skatepunk, to more calmer and emotional atmospheric moments like in slower and more pop oriented Instead Of or fast and superb instrumental New Birth. The vocals are good, the musicianship is tight with some progressive almost metalic technical elements in the songs. The singer reminds me at some moments of Chris from Propagandhi and that is a good thing, not trying to copy but having that similar colour of voice. This is a complex and a bit different e.p. than your typical skatepunk, so enjoy it as I did.
South American scene never ceases to amaze me with so many bands coming out every day and releasing super music to the world. End of Pipe are from Brasil and this is their new record.
There are 10 songs on this record. The music is punkrock, heavily influenced by skatepunk and melodic hardcore. The lyrics are in English and they are pretty good, bordering on the edge of personal and politics. I love the vocals, the singer reminds a lot of Pennywise singer Jim with the colour of the voice. I love more uptempo, faster songs, although this is not your typical skatepunk fast forward band, this is clever and well arranged song rhythm and great emotional melodies in guitar riffs, super vocals and anthemic choruses, topped with smart lyrics, you get a great record. Recommended songs: The Secret, 80 Shots, Memories.
