(review) LOST LOVE -Glenn Spaghetti Legs(Uncle M Music)

Lost Love are currently on their way for their European tour. For this tour, this Montreal based band released a new e.p. with Uncle M Music and I listened and reviewed their record for our zine.

The new e.p. is consisting of two songs which are b-sides from their great ”Good Luck Rassco”, their last album released in May 2018 on Stomp Records and Guerilla Asso. The cover artwork is inspired by that famous video when Danzig gets his ass kicked, in fact punched by that other big dude. The title song is a nice melodic anthem but the other song, called Ontarien Dermande somehow fits better to my ear and I love it. This is a nice little e.p. and I can´t wait for the new full length, also catch these guys live somewhere on their European tour, the dates are below!

(record review) The Slums/Bad Taste-Split(PCT Musique)

The Slums from Canada and Bad Taste from France recently released split record with PCT Musique and I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

Both bands are represented with four new songs on this record. The Slums from Canada play a bit dirty, gritty punkrock ska which I love very much. It is melodic, energetic, yet not overly polished and produced as some bands are. You can feel the spirit behind the music and that is unfortunately not the case with many bands in nowadays scene. The Crow is definitely the best song on their side of the record in my opinion. If you are into nice dirty melodic ska punk, go grab this one and enjoy. Bad Taste are coming from France and they play melodic, but also gritty and harsher version of punkrock and I also love their side of the record and it is a bit better musically for my taste than The Slums side, but vocals are a bit too snotty for me, but excellent music covers vocals hehe. Don´t get me wrong, riffs are catchy, choruses are beautiful, so do not miss this one. Best song of this side: So Far So Good.

(record review) Downway-Last Chance For More Regrets(Thousand Islands Records)

Downway released their new record, first album in 15 years with Thousand Islands Records. I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

This band is from Calgary, Alberta and they were formed in 1994. After five releases, four music videos, they disbanded in 2003. They were reformed for new victories in 2017. and this is the first new music album in 15 years.

The album contains intro plus eleven songs of pure 90-ies melodic punk hardcore which somehow became rare in these modern times, when everyone is playing this more modern technical metalic skatepunk. Well, time stopped and brought us back in the past for this jewel of an album with no holds barred, pure hearted melodic punk hardcore with a lot of awesome melodies, great personal lyrics that everyone can relate to, and above all, superb songwriting. I was totally surprised how excellent this album is, I expected something good, but not this good. If you are a fan of fast, at times mid tempo melodic punk, with nice vocals that express a lot of emotion to the lyrics they sing about, choruses you´ll sing along to, this album is the right one for you. My favorite songs: Black Taxes, Same Sky, Saying Your Name, Punk OG.
