(record review)Family Meeting-Walk Left/Stand Right(Thousand Islands Records)

Family Meeting, melodic punks from Toronto, Canada just released their final record via Thousand Islands Records. I listened and reviewed the record for our zine.

cover

The record contains 3 songs of beautiful, melodic and technical skatepunk. I love the diversity in the pace, atmosphere and awesome melodies of No Honour Amongst Steves. The title track is for me the best song on this record with the chorus that made my head spin and my skin get goosebumps and made me wish that I wrote this song. For Months Of Rain made me somehow sad, realising the fact that this is the final record for this band, and I only discovered them. But, the music will carry on and the smiles on the faces of us, listeners will be eternal, knowing that the legacy of this great band will remain in memory and ears and our hearts forever.

(record review)DOWN MEMORY LANE-Release(Thousand Islands Records)

Down Memory Lane are melodic hardcore punk from Montreal, Canada, and they just released their new record through mighty Thousand Islands Records, so it was about time for me to listen and review it for this zine.

DownMemoryLane-Release_Cover

These guys were formed in 2015.in the suburbs of Montreal with a goal to play the 90-ies melodic punk and since then they released three e.p.-s sung in different languages. This new record contains 6 songs of great, fast and 90-ies styled melodic hardcore skatepunk. One of the best songs on this record is funny titled A Song About This Song, being fast, anthemic, making you pump up your fist in the air and sing at the top of your lungs. The other songs that are top of this record in my opinion are Xenophobic and Catch And Release. The vocals on records such as this are very important to me, so Down Memory Lane have great singer and nicely done backing and harmonic vocals. This record again shows the strength and multitude of Canadian punk scene making it one of my favorite scenes in the world.

(record review)Gutter Demons-No God, No Ghost, No Saints

Gutter Demons are back! Their fifth studio album is here and I listened and reviewed it for our zine, so check out their music and read this review!

The birth of this evil goes back in 2001.Montreal, Canada and Gutter Demons are considered godfathes of Canadian psychobilly scene, being a great inspiration to bands like Creepshow or The Brains. The new album contains 11 songs of cold, dark and evil atmospheric psychobilly that makes your gut twist and your brain wanting blood, wanting more and wanting it now. Besides psychobilly, the music of Gutter Demons has punk and metal influences. I can even hear some Danzig influence in Devil˙s Hand and some Slayer I heard in Psychotrons. But, don´t get me wrong, this is neither metal nor punkrock, this is great psychobilly with a lot of darkness, blood, guts and horror in lyrics the way it should be, besides also exploring darker side of human psyche. For me, the best songs on this record are the above mentioned Devil˙s Hand turning from metal to fast energetic killing ground, Ghostrider and Cold Call. Good one!
