(record review)Fullcount-Part Of The Game

I have already written countless times about the variety and how great Canadian skatepunk scene is, this time I listened and reviewed the new record by Fullcount which is distributed by the great Lockjaw Records.

FulCount - Name of The Game

Hailing from Quebec city area, these guys deliver a mighty and epic album of technical skatepunk. The album contains 12 songs mainly in neckbreaking speed, with beautiful melodic guitar hooks, anthemic singalong choruses and awesome musicianship. There are some guest appearances on the album from Étienne Dionne (Mute), Alexis Paré (Cardinals Pride) and Émilie Plamondon (50 Shades of Punk Rock).  For me, the best songs on this record are definitely The Motion and Discord & Treachery but the album as a whole is a must if you are a fan of melodic hardcore punk with technical prowess, heart, soul, balls and strength. Many who read this zine know how much I value great vocals in such bands and this band has it all, in your face melodic but strong main vocals and awesome done harmonies in the backing vocal lines. This is for sure one of the best albums of the genre this year!

(record review)LOSER POINTS-Denial & Error

35786337_1191247447684589_1323136968422326272_o

Formed in 2015., Loser Points from Alberta, Canada were working on their material and playing gigs, so they released their new e.p. which I listened and reviewed for our zine.

The record contains 9 songs of heartfelt melodic punkrock, not unlike some of their peers from California and USA, but Loser Points kept their own line of emotion and originality which saved them from being mere clone of other bands. The songs on this record that somehow I like the most are Sleepyhead, Adult Girlfriends and Papercuts. I don˙t have lyric sheet but as far as I understood the lyrics are personal and emotional and any of us listeners can relate to some of the song lyrics. The vocals are excellent along with backing vox and harmonies, and everyone who reads our zine knows how important for me are the vocals in the whole story when I listen to such bands, because sometimes the music might be awesome, but then the bad vocals spoil the whole record. Fortunately, Loser Points are not one of those bands. This is a strong and melodic record with heart and soul, so go listen and get the record!

(record review)TALK SHOW HOST/CHUMP/BIAS-3 Way Split(PCT musique)

I must admit that I love split releases, whether they are split tapes, 3 way or 4 way split tapes. I love this release and I am really glad that I had a chance to listen and review this record for our zine.

PCT musique did a really nice job releasing this record by these three bands. There are six songs on this record, two of each bands. Talk Show Host is a melodic punkrock/skatepunk band from Toronto, Canada and we already featured them on the pages of this zine. Their two songs are tight, melodic, faster paced punkrock and I loved it, like all of their earlier material. Chump are from Belgium and I never heard of them prior to these songs but I loved both of them, especially Tony Sly dedicated to tragically passed away legend. I love you guys, this song brought tears to my eyes. Excellent melodic punkrock in it˙s finest form. Bias is a punkrock band from Toulouse, France. Their punkrock is melodic, with excellent singalong and harmonic backing vocals creating awesome melodies backed by energetic melodic punk.

Awesome record! Go get it!
