(review) Nagasaki Sunrise – Turn On The Power (Anoise Recs)

thumbnail_promo_tapes

Long time no crust punk graced the pages of this zine. Nagasaki Sunrise are hailing from Portugal and are this is their demo tape released by Anoise Recs.

What to expect? Awesome hardcore punk/war crust themed by WWII battlefields of Pacific. I am usually not so an avid fan of crust, but the way these guys do it is really fine and great listening pleasure. These four songs offer fast Motorhead charged crust punk with catchy almost melancholic Gothenburg-like guitar melodies, good vocals and it lasts long enough not to get boring and to leave you want more. Loud As Fuck, the title song, Napalm In The Morning and Dungeon Master are sure to win you over. The members of this band also play in Alkateya, Midnight Priest, Ravensire, Vurmo and more bands/projects. If you are into this kind of music go get this one.

Nice to see NAMET from Zagreb, Croatia are back with their brand new release. They had some personal problems, I was afraid that they will not be able to play anymore, but fortunately I was wrong. The new record is recorded by Filip from Studio Depth and it is a powerful tour de force. 8 songs with lyrics in Croatian language show all the anger and much needed rage in todays shitty world. The music of Namet is a mixture of hardcore punk, but with crust punk and darkened melodic death metal almost Gothenburg style melodeath riffs thrown here and there in the song structures, sometimes bordering with old school Swedish style of death metal and d-beat. The vocals are angry, screaming yet you can understand what is being sung so that is another plus. Recommended songs: Gnjev, Neka Gori, Pokvaren Do Srži. Great album by great band, so go support your scene.

(review) Ett Dödens Maskineri-Sveriges Humanitära Ruiner(Suicide Records)

Ett Dödens Maskineri from Sweden release their new record with Suicide Records. This record contains 5 songs of hardcore/crust punk done in Swedish style, meaning d-beat topped with some melodic parts in the guitar riffs. But, there are also some atmospheric mid tempo parts like in superb Dodens Maskineri which is for sure one of the best songs on this record. You can hear old school Swedish crust punk in the music of this band, but they also delivered something new and fresh to their sound making them very interesting to listen. The lyrics are in Swedish language, but as I read, they are about todays political situation, loss of humanity, loss of one self, rise of every day racism, fight to keep yourself sane in an insane world, so great themes. The vocals are shouted but sound somehow desperate and crazed so this is another plus for this band. Fantastic band, fantastic songs!
