(review) Starvation – ‘Poison God’

Starvation nisu novo ime na hrvatskoj underground sceni, ali je ova inkarnacija benda nova. Članovi benda su svirali po mnogim bendovima i dolaze iz različitih dijelova Hrvatske, ali je bend baziran u Zagrebu. Ovo im je novi album koji sadrži 11 pjesama od kojih je jedna intro. Kako opisati muziku? Meni je ovo mješavina hardcore punka, d-beata i švedske škole death metala iz 90-ih, dakle bendova poput Dismember, At The Gates, stari Entombed i sličnih. U biti ovaj album je spoj onoga što članovi benda slušaju, pošto poznam osobno neke od njih. Meni je upečatljivo kako Starvation odlično miješa melodiju, odnosno tu agresivnu melankoliju sa agresijom i prljavštinom crust hardcore punka. Takva je i produkcija, mene jako podsjeća na produkcije iz ranih 90-ih. Dakle, pjesme su brze i agresivne, vokal je growl, ali uglavnom ga se može razumjeti podosta što pjeva, pa je to još jedan plus. Moji osobni favoriti zbog toga što volim taj miks melodije i agresije na ovom albumu su ‘Their Light Consume Us All’, ‘Poison God’ i ‘End Of Mankind’, no to ne moraju biti i tvoji favoriti, poslušaj album pa vidi odnosno čuj što ti najbolje odgovara. Nisam gledao ovaj bend uživo, ali bih jako volio čekirati ovaj materijal live, jer sam siguran da je preodličan uživo. Uglavnom, topla preporuka.

Swiss UNCAVED (prog death) released debut album!

UNCAVED stands for unconventional death metal ranging from complex riffs to polyphonic vocal arrangements and old school brutality. Hailing from Switzerland, Uncaved consist of Simon Frederik Piringer (Vocals), Félicien Burkard (Fretless Bass, Vocals), Samuel Wiederkehr (Guitar), Ralph P. Huber (Guitar) and Gregor Bucher (Drums). The name UNCAVED describes the process of self-enlightenment, which is further elaborated through lyrics, music and artwork. While some themes deconstruct social concepts, others deal with constructive philosophy, addressing important texts. “Dogmatorraistes” is an old Greek neologism meaning the crusher of dogma. The compositions blend old school and progressive death metal with unconventional song structures, complex guitar work, polyphonic growling and clean vocals and diverse forms of brutality. “Dogmatorraistes” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Iguana Studios Germany by Christoph Brandes (Ellende, Finsterforst, Imperium Dekadenz, Necrophagist). Artwork and booklet designed and created by Désirée Marinelli and Simone Huber. Band logo by Pascal Suter. Debut album was released August 9, 2023 – digitally, on CD and vinyl. Venezuelan doom-death metal sensation Stratuz presents Morning Star (Lyric Video)

Revered pioneers of extreme metal Stratuz are proud to unveil their captivating new lyric video for “Morning Star.” The track, taken from their highly acclaimed album “Osculum Pacis,” showcases the band’s signature blend of arrangements, density, heaviness, and melancholy, all seasoned with a profound sense of darkness.

“Morning Star” symbolizes the first light of dawn, a reminder that spiritual enlightenment shines upon those who are ready. It represents Lucifer as the bringer of light and knowledge, challenging the traditional perception of fear. The band invites listeners to seek their own truth and understanding, urging them to awaken from the layers of lies that have been woven through time.

STRATUZ emerged onto the metal scene in 1984 and quickly solidified their position as Venezuela’s most revered metal band. Their debut album, “In Nomine…” released in 1995, catapulted them to recognition and acclaim. Following a triumphant European tour in 1999, they signed with LSP-Company and released “Spirit Seduction,” which marked a new chapter in their musical journey. After a hiatus, the band reunited in 2019, pouring their passion into the creation of “Osculum Pacis,” which was unleashed upon the world in 2022. The album garnered international praise, securing the top spot on the Jacquin Ravens Top 50 Metal chart and earning accolades as the best work of 2022 by esteemed journalist Roberto Palmitesta and Metal Pedia.
