(movie) THE WAY OF METALLIST PROVIDES A NICE PICTURE OF EXTREME MUSIC AND CZECH SCENE THROUGH MALIGNANT TUMOUR!

DVD

Wow! I heard of this documentary a while ago, but never saw it until now. This Czech movie is about student who gets an assignment to make a study about metal and he then finds about the band called Malignant Tumour who have been playing since 1991., the movie was made in 2016.so it was 25 years they played back then. This movie is about the band, but also about discovering metal and punk hardcore scene, underground, which becomes eternal love for the main protagonist through going to gigs, hanging out, even becoming friends with the band. It also provides a fine picture of the band, since their extreme grindcore beginnings, to nowadays they provide hell of a show with their mixture of crust punk and roll. Their charismatic frontman Bilos and the rest of the band speak about the band and the past also present themselves, but also lot of extreme underground music legends talk about the band in the movie. I almost choked laughing in the part of the movie where band gets Czech music award for the best hard and heavy band, you should see that and also I would recommend this movie, I am not total fan of the band. Great one!

(movie) Drew Stone´s New York Hardcore Chronicles is a valuable movie documentation of our favorite music scene!

dvds-nyhc-900x1196

New York is currently going through hard times like many other cities and countries in the world with that virus shit spreading all around. But, that wonderful city has always been a synonime for hardcore scene, my favorite scene which I love since I was just a little kid.

When I heard that Drew Stone made a documentary about the scene, I knew that one should be fantastic to see, with Drew being one of old protagonists in the scene and knowing how this should be made. I watched all that New York Hardcore ten questions series on You Tube wishing the movie would come my way soon. Now, I finally saw it and was not disappointed. All of the main old school guys are there like Roger Miret, Vinnie Stigma, Jimmy Gestapo, Ray Cappo, Porcell, CIV, Rob Kabula, Danny Diablo, Freddy Madball…the movie has a lots of talk, but also enough interesting live action footage and streetwalk, flyers, old venues not to be boring or too thin. It covers all segments of the scene from old school raw in your face hardcore punk, over youth crew sxe bands, crossover with Crumbsuckers, Biohazard with more metalic edge to nowadays kids and bands. It made goosebumps on my hands when they interviewed two very little kids, boy and a girl about hardcore in the street, then instantly I knew that the future is bright and there will be enough kids left to take over after we are gone and hardcore will not die, you will die. Fantastic movie! I got to see it again to remember all the details I lost upon first watching.

I recently watched the five part series The Devil Next Door. It is a documentary about the arrest and prosectution of US citizen of Ukrainian descent John Demjanjuk for alleged war crimes. During WWII, Demjanjuk was an operator in gas chambers of infamous death camp Treblinka, called Ivan The Terrible by the inmates. He used to stab with his sword people on their way to death in gas chambers and cut off their body parts to make their deaths even more horrible. He worked in Ford factory in America, but was extradized to Israel to be processed there for his crimes. He defended himself that he was not that man, that he was framed for his Ukrainian anti Soviet movement sentiments. The crucial and almost only proof besides testimonies of the survivors was a photograph from the old ss identity card. This documentary series is heavy, heartbreaking when seeing actual survivors of Treblinka and other death camps stating their testimonies at the court in Israel. It is also a story of morality, ethics, how far could you sacrifice your ideals for money and what would you do for survival. Me personally wasn´t sure that the guy was Ivan The Terrible indeed, but as the series progressed and finished, now I am sure that the guy was a war criminal, whether that guy or some other ss camp killer it is not so important. Does war crime ever ends being important issue? Never! I have many old people in my neighbourhood, I often caught myself thinking while watching this series, how much do I know them? Maybe that smiling, old nice man was indeed a beast in human form killing thousands couple of decades ago. This is not light to watch, but it is important issue, never being out of importance.
