(record review)SOOM-“Djebars”(Robustfellow Prods. | Addicted Label | Voron NEST | KVLT OV Ї )

Ukraine has rich and interesting underground scene and Soom is one of the bands from that scene. They are releasing this second album via Robustfellow Productions.

Soom was founded in Kharkiv, Ukraine, at the end of 2013. Adding the weight to the first album this new album contains 10 tracks of tortured mix made out of sludge, doom, lo fi noise and hysteria. The experience of this album is total dark ride. I love New Orleans sludge scene, but the European scene brought a lot of originality in the sludge making it even more tortured, harsh and hard to listen to. This music is not for everyones ears, but I loved it. There is some Black Flagish stuff in the song structures but it quickly changes into total doom metal or noisy passages. Vocals vary from screaming, tortured singing, whispering or just spoken word. The best time to listen to this album would be Friday or Saturday night prior to going out, because you will drink yourself to death with this music.

(new video)Labyrinthus Noctis tribute Lars von Trier with their new lyric video!

LN_Band_2018

The progressive gothic doom band Labyrinthus Noctis, active since 2003, has recently published on You Tube the lyric video of ‘Melancholia‘, a song inspired by the famous Lars Von Trier’s movie. Melancholia is the second single from the upcoming album ‘Opting For The Quasi-Steady State of CosmologyLinear A‘. the first single of the upcoming album, is in rotation worldwide radio from January 2018 in the transmission ‘Vittek Tape’. Opting For The Quasi-Steady State of Cosmology will be published by the indie label ‘Vomit Arcanus Productions’ in April 2018.
Labyrinthus Noctis presented the new lyric video with these words:
M E L A N C H O L I A is the second single from “Opting For A Quasy Steady State Cosmology”. The theme of the song follows the concept described in Lars Von Trier’s movie. Space and Time are forms of expression and they are equally distorted through images and words of passion and through the spectrum of a depression coming from the inability to change the orbit of events.

(record review)COFFIN CAROUSEL-“Between Death&Dead”(Eclipse Records)

Coffin Carousel are coming from Australia, Melbourne. The Australian scene is great, with so many punk, hardcore and metal bands coming out nowadays.

This record came out on Eclipse Records and it contains 17 songs of dark and emotional music. Coffin Carousel play a mixture of doom metal and goth rock(more) with horrorpunk and hardcore influences(less). Lyrically they deal with some personal demons and the lyrics are very deep and not your conventional generic horror stuff, not that it is something wrong with that. While listening to this record you can actually feel the sun setting down or darkening in the sky. There is one little thing that bothered me on this record and that is the vocal lines and melodies, I think the singing could be a little bolder and with more emotions behind it on some songs, and I am sure that the singer can do it because he has an awesome voice. But, thats only me. Maybe they just wanted it this way. What I personally loved the most on this record is the feeling of coldness and nothingness in this music and the atmosphere that they managed to get on this record makes it worth listening.
