I saw that no 10 is already out, but I don´t have it and recently Neven sent me this no 9, so I read it from front to back, Out Of The Darkness zine being my personal favorite, best one in the region and one of the best fanzines I have ever read. Nice layout, everything made just the way I like it and it is in our Serbian/Croatian language, so people from other countries will have to use translator while reading. But, what is most important and best part of this zine is that every number manages to have such superb interesting material. What I found most interesting in this one are columns of course, I love reading them since I read first Heartattack zine back 25+years or so. There are couple of interviews and most interesting for me were talks with Doomtown Records people, The Truth and Kriva Istina. There is an interview with The Templars, Contra Records, Disease and bunch of cool reviews, music and books. This is THE BEST fanzine out there right now. So, go order your copy:

(fanzine) Virus is another excellent zine from our scene.

I was told by my friend Emil that there is another great physical fanzine from our scene worth reading. Virus is a fanzine done by Batko, the drummer for Disbaja, who lives in Zagreb and also organizes gigs there. First thing is how this zine is beautifully done. Really, from front cover across the whole zine, all black, with great layout and easy to read. When I say read, there are tons of material to read in there. I love how Batko mixes personal and political into one undivided whole, with also great dose of sarcasm and black humor thrown in there. There are columns, among them touching column done by Puljko from Namet, about his fight with leukemia and I was so struck when I read that one. Really, health is the most important thing we must hold onto. All other shit that seems hard and fucked up is nothing compared to health and heavy diseases. Also, there are interesting interviews with Aligrindtor, Doomtown Records, Smrt Razuma and Celetoids, also Left To Starve which was most interesting to read. Couple of reviews, soundtrack for the end of the world composed of radio friendly hits. I think which one of those would be mine soundtrack for apocalypse, superb gig reports and also columns about life in quarantine, dealing with it, dealing with state oppression, thoughts about freedom, love, capitalism. Also, an interesting piece done by Ivan, guitarist of Disbaja, about punks having a kid or kids. I read this zine in one afternoon, how great this one is. I havent read something so good since Fejer˙s Mentalna Smrt zines. But, this one left me hungry for more. Can not wait for new issue. Order your copy at:

(fanzine)Beta Vulgaris #12 is one of the best fanzines in Croatia.

Although this is a webzine, I used to do lots of fanzines back in the nineties and early 2000s from No Faith, Domination of Darkness…It is so nice to see that there are still physical copies of fanzines here in Croatian scene, which is my homeland scene. This zine is coming from south of Croatia, namely beautiful Split. What first comes to mind is that the zine is pretty big, many pages, with lots of stuff to read. I was instantly reminded of excellent zine from Croatia called In medias res that was really something back in the days. This zine is in Croatian language, so if you don˙t understand, too bad, maybe you can find someone who can translate a bit to you or something. There are columns, interview with Parole 80, features about anarchosindicalism, antifascism from Split area, some more feature, poetry, feature on Brigada Flores Magon and much, much more. As you can see, this is not zine focused only on music, but also on political side of things in punk, being nice because not many zines do that nowadays. It is lots of reading material for little money or exchange so write: bvulgaris@riseup.net
