I didn´t watch Belzebuth(2017) for quite some time because I thought that it is some possession Exorcist clone or something. Boy, I was wrong. This one is brutal! Tired and traumatized police inspector Ritter (excellent Joaquin Cosio) investigates the school massacre which looks pretty clear to solve in the beginning. He discovers that there is something totally different and sinister underneath and that nothing is as it seems, especially when priest Vasilio Canetti (Tobin Bell) mixes in his work and they begin desperate race with time.

Now, everything in this movie is just right. Story, acting led by Cosio and legendary Tobin Bell (Jigsaw of Saw movies fame, eh?), dark, dark story with almost no happy ending in sight, sadness, atmosphere, melancholy, topped with brutal death scenes that spare no one not even babies. There is a twist at the end of the movie which was not unpredictable and a little bit clicheed but the movie is done so good, that everything is forgiven. If you love horror, you will love Belzebuth.

(movie) Blood of the Vampire was for sure ahead of its time back in 1958!

Blood-of-the-vampire-2988

Blood of the Vampire is set into the end of the nineteenth century and tells the story about the wrongly accused doctor who ends in the remote prison where mad warden conducts deathly experiments on inmates, with help of his disfigured sidekick. This one was definitely ahead of its time. Why? Because this one is a brutal prison thriller drama about wrongly accused character with little or no hope for saving himself from the situation he is in. Second, it is horror, classic with mad doctor, experiments and blood letting and blood being the life. Donald Wolfit is fantastic in the role of Callistratus, mad warden/scientist, diabolic and anemic, whose presence steals the charisma from all other actors, although Barbara Shelley as Madeleine and Victor Maddern as disfigured Carl are also fabulous and charming, as only those old school horror movies can provide. Characters that are unforgettable, larger than life and ones that we always love to get back to. I am really happy that I discovered this little jewel and watched it. If you love old school horror, prison break movies, drama and macabre, this one is a keeper.

(movie review) Extraction is action shootout instant classic!

Now, I have heard only praise for this one from others that watched it. I had no expectations, but boy, was I surprised. Chris Hemsworth plays Tyler, hardcore mercenary, he and his team are in a business of saving teenage boy, son of mafia boss, who was abducted by another boss to humiliate the father who is in prison.

Tyler and his crew come to the city and manage to save the boy, but then things go wrong and Tyler and the boy must shoot their way through the whole city to get to extraction point. Tyler must fight gangs, kids, police, special forces and mafia goons. Based upon graphic novel called Ciudad this  one is an instant classic for all fans of mindless shootout action packed movies in the vein of legendary Raid. This one is full of flying bullets, explosions, snipers, death and full on intense old school action movie. Hemsworth is ideal for such role of experienced yet traumatized mercenary, the villains are also great, typical for such movies and I really enjoyed this one. If you are a fan of such movies as Raid, go see this one you will not regret it.
