(movie) Violent Cop(1989.)-another jewel in the crown of Japanese movies.

Violent Cop(1989.) is a directorial and acting debut of Japanese legend Takeshi Kitano. This movie makes Clint Eastwood and his Dirty Harry little baby compared to police inspector Azuma(Kitano), who does not speak many words, but deals with everything in special and violent way, not making any compromises in delivering what he thinks is right, but also dancing permanently at some edge of lawful behavior and having problems with his boss. When he and his colleagues investigate drug related murder, his best friend, also policeman kills himself. Azuma takes matter in his own hands to avenge his best buddy and deliver justice. This is very violent movie which has some really nice death scenes of graphic gore, like baseball bat in the skull, teenager girl shot in the head, bloody murder. But, it is also poetic story of one individual different than others, an individual who does what he thinks is right and justice in the corrupt system and therefore I will not spoil it to you further, only that you watch this movie until its poetic and beautiful ending. Great one by the legend!

(movie) For We Are Many-horror anthology!

Horror anthology containing 13 filmmakers that were asked to do their contribution to the movie inspired by demons, Lovecraftian cosmic horror, afterlife, ghosts and similar themes. This movie is poor clone of V/H/S franchise, also ABCs Of Death franchise and similar modern horror movie anthologies. When you have cheap budget, you can still make a great movie by writing superb story. Like similar anthologies, this one also has some great segments, especially those found footage subgenre segments, this subgenre being my favorite horror subgenre besides slasher horror. There are also badly written clicheed fillers, without any sense. Central segment which connects the movie is without any sense at all. I counted seven great segments, against six bad ones, so that makes this movie barely decent mark. Acting is criminal but there are some decent actors here and there. Gore effects are lousy or none this being direct to dvd cheap production. But, I have recently watched that Glenn Danzig`s Verotika and compared to that, this one is an Oscar winning material hehe.

(movie) Drew Stone´s New York Hardcore Chronicles is a valuable movie documentation of our favorite music scene!

dvds-nyhc-900x1196

New York is currently going through hard times like many other cities and countries in the world with that virus shit spreading all around. But, that wonderful city has always been a synonime for hardcore scene, my favorite scene which I love since I was just a little kid.

When I heard that Drew Stone made a documentary about the scene, I knew that one should be fantastic to see, with Drew being one of old protagonists in the scene and knowing how this should be made. I watched all that New York Hardcore ten questions series on You Tube wishing the movie would come my way soon. Now, I finally saw it and was not disappointed. All of the main old school guys are there like Roger Miret, Vinnie Stigma, Jimmy Gestapo, Ray Cappo, Porcell, CIV, Rob Kabula, Danny Diablo, Freddy Madball…the movie has a lots of talk, but also enough interesting live action footage and streetwalk, flyers, old venues not to be boring or too thin. It covers all segments of the scene from old school raw in your face hardcore punk, over youth crew sxe bands, crossover with Crumbsuckers, Biohazard with more metalic edge to nowadays kids and bands. It made goosebumps on my hands when they interviewed two very little kids, boy and a girl about hardcore in the street, then instantly I knew that the future is bright and there will be enough kids left to take over after we are gone and hardcore will not die, you will die. Fantastic movie! I got to see it again to remember all the details I lost upon first watching.
