Finnish melodic metal quartet Scars of Solitude has released a new single. No Riddance is the second single taken from the group’s upcoming EP called If These Walls Could Talk to be released later this year.
According to the band’s singer/guitarist Tuomo Laulainen“No Riddance is a explosively energetic and vitally melodic metal anthem with a catchy chorus of which’s energy and straightforwardness is borrowed from pop-punk. The song used to go with the working title ’Paramore’ for a long time. The song’s lyrics were written during the sleepless nights accompanied by arrythmia and anxiety as if it were the exact opposite of the song’s musical side.” The music video for No Riddance was filmed during the “busy gigging year” of 2020 and it is filled with the band’s hearty spirit and its live energy. Luckily the band could go and play most of their planned shows safely even during the weird year and only had to cancel two of them. The EP still has no release date but it should see the light of day during the second half of the year. More details will follow once the release date has been set.
I At Last were already mentioned on the pages of this zine. This time, they release new e.p. with Inverse Records. These guys are from Finland and they bring metalcore since 2019 as they say on their official page. This record contains five songs. Now, I am not a big fan of metalcore, not my cup of tea so to say, but this one is very, very good. It is enough melodic to border with melodic death metal influences besides hardcore, even having a bit of blast beats in my personal favorite called Wake. This band also does something that I love, that is combining clean melodic singing with screaming and shouting like we are used to in hardcore and metalcore bands. I always fall for that and that is great in my opinion. Guitar work is epic, besides harsh metalcore riffs there are enough catchy and melodic hooks and riffs to make your day happy. Also, there is a dose of melancholy that only Finnish bands can provide in their music. This is a great record for all you fans of such music. I know I am more than satisfied.
Finnish melodic death/thrash metal band Dead Shape Figure has kept themselves busy lately creating new material. They are preparing a series of three EP releases that start with EP ”Refinement Of Hatred” to be released in May 2021. Now DSF has released song called “Stupidity Breeds False Idols” from the upcoming EP.
Vocalist Galzi backgrounds the song:“Stupidity Breeds False Idols is a critical statement. Before the strangle grip of difficult question and impossible choises people tend to hold on to the easy solutions that serve nobody. This a starting point for thoughts of a lonely thinker.”
