(review) Mal Aux Yeux-Sequestre par le futur(Gargouille Asso)

Mal Aux Yeux are coming from northern France and this is their debut album that came out with Gargouille Asso.

There are 13 songs on this record and they are all but one being sung in French, so I don`t understand what are they about, but I let the music speak for itself. The music is harsh and rhythmic complex hardcore punk, not your straightforward charging, but with smart song structures, complex guitar and drum parts, yet still being enough catchy and melodic to appeal to the fans of more melodic side of things, like my favorite song on this record En pleine rue. Faster, more aggressive parts mix with almost math core precise riffs, and angry shouted vocals, sometimes diving into melody fit just perfectly to the music like in awesome Detruire mon corps. There is an interlude almost in the middle of the record to add to the heaviness and atmosphere of the record. Good one, French hardcore punk scene is one of the best in the world.

(review) Wake The Dead-Still Burning

Cover

Wake The Dead are coming from Marseille, France and this is their brand new record. The new record contains eight songs of modern brutal, yet melodic hardcore with lots of catchy riffs, anguished shouted nice vocals and lots of backing vocals singalong parts just made for fist pumping in the air and singing at the concerts. If I must compare the music of these guys to some band I have listened lately, it would be Croatian band Shin who play similar music to Wake The Dead. The lyrics of the songs are talking about hope, surviving, inner demons, love, friendship and I can easily relate to them, because they are not some coded messages in slowed down songs hehe if you know what I mean. The songs I recommend as being somehow highlights for me are: Giving Up, All My Flames, Lone Wolf. Excellent album.

(review) Zombies No-All You Can Hate e.p.

cover

Zombies No were originally rooted in Venezuela, yet now from Paris, France. This is a very strong e.p. containing 5 song of energetic, protesting melodic hardcore punk, sounding fresh and modern, technical yet having that old school vibe and lyrics that are rebellious yet all of us can relate to. The beauty of No Surrender made me jump all over my room, then Into The Wild blew me away with even more speed and melody making goosebumps on my skin while listening to that Maidenesque part of the song hehe. What Went Wrong is a punkrock anthem made for pumping fist in the air evolving from slower verse to superb fast chorus. Burn speaks about importance of eternal rebellion, keeping the flame of freedom alive in your heart. Falling Back is the last one I am listening and am longing for full record. Awesome!
