(record review)Call It A Day-Mind The Gap(Thousand Islands Records)

Thousand Islands Records continues its triumphant crusade in bringing us awesome bands and fantastic records, for all of us who like our punk fast and melodic. This, time we listened and reviewed the new Call It A Day record.

cover

This band comes from Strasbourg, France and, you guessed it, they play awesome melodic punk hardcore or skatepunk if you will. The record contains three songs. For Your Safety is for me the best of the three songs, but Empty Promises is close, both being fast skatepunk with excellent melodies and awesome main vocals backed by nicely done backing vocal harmonies, topped off with great guitar hooks and song structures. The third song, named Valium is everything else but tranquilizer, being awesome energetic bomb to complete this little record with some screamed vocals thrown in to interact with the melodic voice and the combination is great. I love every single minute of this record and I really can˙t wait for the full length.

After months of hard work and first gigs (as openers for bands such as Silverstein), French metalcore/rock newcomers Dizorder are proud to unveiled their first EP called MOON PHASES officially out now for CD & digital on Bandcamp and the main legal platforms (iTunes, Spotify, Deezer…).

In addition to the official re-release announcement, the band also shared the full effort for FREE streaming on BC.

Born from Val-d’Oise, Dizorder recently won 2 days of training at Le Forum de Vauréal to get prepared for any gig and has been elected by the audience of the open mic of La Ruche 2018.

Driven by the brutal screams of their female singer, the band offers an alternative metal at the crossroads between Flyleaf, Deftones, Northlane and frees themselves from more lyrical spheres.

Quitters is a Punk Rock indie quartet formed in 2015 in Montpellier After a few dates in France, the band releases their first EP entitled Move On to Honest Things in May 2015 on four European labels (Krod Records, Bad Mood Asso, Inhumano and Dingleberry Records). Then follows several tours that will take them to Chile, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland…

In 2017, the debut album Good Night Memories released on eight independent European labels including Inhumano, Bad Mood Asso and Dingleberry Records. With the same desire to defend independent culture and Do It Yourself. This year also marks the arrival of Roma in the group and the resumption of tours in England, Europe and the USA.

In January 2019, the second EP Singing Like Nobody’s Listening will be released.

These are the first songs composed with Romain on drums. They were made between Montpellier and Grenoble. Rom living 300 km from Antho, Jerem and Dookie, the exercise was to ping-pong the songs without ever repeating until a satisfactory result was achieved.

The ep was recorded in June 2018 with RomTom Cat and is called Singing Like Nobody’s Listening.

The meaning of My Own Worst Enemy is that the real difficulty is not the problem but the way the person manages it. You can be disenchanted, frustrated, lost, hopeless but at the same time realize that there are so many positive things in this world. It’s all about choice, about making the decision to pursue these things as long as you can.
