(record review)THE DAWN-TWWKIG

The Dawn is a hardcore band from Marseille, France and I am happy I was able to listen and review their record for this zine.

The album contains 9 songs of chaotic mayhem. The Dawn play aggressive, nervous, noisy hardcore that borders with sludge and doom influences and screaming harsh vocals. But, there are also grindcore blastbeat parts in the song structures and to add it all, weird keyboard melodies in the background, to make this band more interesting. What makes me more happy, is obvious Church of  Satan influence in many songs, especially Walpurgisnacht with Nine Satanic Statements thrown in. The lyrics are as I understood nihilistic and apocalyptic as the music this band plays. This is not for the fans of happy merry go round melodic hardcore. These guys will twist your mind with their music and then laugh about it later! I really love this record, it shows the variety and originality that can still be achieved on hardcore scene besides all those generic clone bands that are coming out with their records every day!

(record review)Waykopp-Too Loud? Too Old!

Waykopp is a band from France, from the town of Pau, that started its journey in 2013. Couple of days ago, they released their brand new album. I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

The album contains 11 songs. The music of Waykopp is a very melodic kind of pop punk/punkrock, almost bordering with indie/alternative area. That means not too distorted guitars, mid tempo pop punk, poppy vocals and personal lyrics about love, friendship and lost relationships and similar.

This band offers really nothing new or revolutionary in the music they are performing but they are doing fine this sort of punkrock. For me, of all the songs on the album the most memorable are Insomnia and Part Time Rockstar. This is the album done with heart and balls and soul, so it is worth your attention if you are a fan of softer melodies in punkrock. Check this one out, listen to the music and drop a word or two to the guys, I am sure it would mean to them a lot!

(record review)Atlas For Home-Late Bloomer e.p.(Red Toad Music)

Atlas For Home are French band from Paris that started in 2013. They just released their new record out on Red Toad Music and I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

This new e.p.contains 6 songs of melody, emotion and pop influenced melodic punkrock alternative. If I must mention who this band reminds me a bit that would be Blink-182, The Starting Line and Biffy Clyro. This new record is band˙s second e.p. four years after the first one. The lyrics of the songs are personal and they deal with identity search, friendship, love, surviving in the today˙s fast world and similar themed songs. The vocals are very important for me in this kind of music and this band has very nice vocals, neither snotty or too poppy just right and feel good for this music, also backing harmonies fit in well and I loved it. This music is perfect for listening on the sunny Saturday morning, while drinking coffee, tidying up the apartment and preparing your lunch. Easy peasy but awesome. The favorite songs: Home, The Talk.
