(review) The Other-Haunted

folder

German horrorpunk legends The Other are back with a brand new studio album. I love this band, they are my favorite European horrorpunk band beside The Crimson Ghosts. Last couple of albums, they moved a bit from traditional horrorpunk sound making the songwriting more complex, adding more metal and industrial elements along with some gothic that was there from day one. Hey, but that is the beauty of horrorpunk scene, being so diverse and original, adding different elements to the basic punkrock.

This time, I have a feeling that The Other somehow returned to the more old shool sounding batch of songs, being more straightforward horrorpunk rather than metal and industrial, yet retaining all the gothic influences with Rod`s recognizable beautiful vocals, superb harmonies on backing vocals, anthemic riffs and choruses that make you wanna listen to this album over and over again.  The songs that somehow stand out to me as being fantastic although rest of the material is strong too, are Turn It Louder, Vampire Girl, Fading Away and The Silence After The First Snow. This is awesome album by the legendary band.

(new single) The Bloodstrings release new single Hookline.

German Punkabilly-Band defines new tone mixing Alternative, Punk and more.

„All vocals tuned and modified mashed into just one empty hookline” is what the new single of German Punkabillies The Bloodstrings says. Their new single is about the decline of essential music. But it’s more to their song than that. They redefine their metal-driven Psychobilly/Punkrock sound. Plus they just have this amazing catchy riff!

When one thinks of Punkabilly, everyone would have Bands with quiffs and Psychobilly style in mind, right? Well, Bloodstrings were never your typical Billies. They play with an upright bass and are likely to be categorised alongside bands like The Creepshow or even The Living End, but their influences reach into Grundge and Glam Punk, Skate-Punk and Thrash Metal. That led them to be on stage of the world famous festival Wacken Open Air, among other around Europe.

The new single „Hookline“ is out on Youtube, Spotify, iTunes, Deezer and more and is the second new release since their second and most famous album “Born Sick” from 2017. As their shows got cancelled obviously, this is what they do now!

(review) Arterials-The Spaces In Between

cover

I must admit I have never listened to Arterials prior to this record. Their new record is out with Gunner Records. Hailing from Hamburg, Germany, these guys play nice hardcore punk mixed with some melodic mid tempo punk thrown here and there, but they do this great. I especially like the vocals being rough voice yet singing when needed and creating total goosebumps with fine melodies. I love fast more straightforward songs like Jaded & Hated but also more mid tempo emotional Pump The Brakes or Friendship Is A Four Letter Word. The lyrics are more personal, but I think everyone can relate to them nicely. This is nothing new or special, but punkrock with balls and conviction and I love this album.
