(review) Shellz-No More Love Songs(Dead Serious Recordings)

shellz_artwork_no_more_love_songs

Shellz are post hardcore or modern hardcore if you like it, from Germany. This ten songs are done in a best quality way of modern hardcore with punkrock, hardcore and metalcore influences, coupled with some electronics background to couple the atmosphere of the songs. This nothing new or revolutionary, but it is done in a quality and way to appeal me as a music fan, and all of you who read this zine know that I am usually not avid fan of modern style of hardcore. The vocals in the songs vary from screaming and shouted to nice beautiful pop punk clean vocals and I am sucker for such bands whenever I hear one of those. Anyway, my favorite songs on this record are Life Of A Sheep, That˙s What I Need, the title songs. Decent one indeed!

(review) Grind-Songs of Blood and Liberation(Dedication Records)

Album - Songs of Blood and Liberation

Grind from Germany are releasing their brand new album with Dedication Records. The album contains 10 songs and it is a lesson in brutality. The music of Grind can be described as a mixture of fast and energetic hardcore punk and noise/grindcore with some melodic hook and post hardcore bit thrown in for good measure. The album is brutal, yet somehow very nice for listening especially Empthy Things, one of my highlights from the album. Vocals are superb, growled, screamed and shouted, depending on the song and fit perfectly to the picture. I would love to hear and see these guys destroy live on stage, I am sure this band kicks ass live. With songs like Liberate, Even Death May Die(another favorite of mine) or Necklaces of Death you just can`t go wrong. Members of Grind have more than twenty years experience in the extreme music scene based in Flensburg, northern Germany, so this album is definitely a proof and making them a band to watch out for and I am so lucky being able to listen to it now as it is fresh. Great album.

(review) ITCHY-Ja Als Ob(Findaway Records/Soulfood)

116506

Itchy from Germany have been in the scene for a long time, releasing seven albums, playing numerous tours and enjoying their time sharing stage with greatest bands in the punkrock scene. What the band didn`t do is make an album in their native German language and this time, with their eight album they did just that. New album contains 13 songs in their trademark deutschpunk/melodic punk/pop punk sound. The title track sounds a bit strange, like mixture of industrial, pop punk but really interesting. There are also more straightforward melodic punk songs like Faust, one of my favorites on the record. I understand German, so I can relate to the good lyrics written for this album. Ich wollte noch which features guest performance by Sebastian Madsen is also one of my favorites on the album having such sad beautiful melody in the chorus. The songs I must mention as being my highlights of the album are Unser Lied and Gegen den Wind. Not to discover just all, get your copy if you love your punkrock melodic and interesting.
