Draven Valentine has a new release out there with four songs ready to melt your face off. These four songs on the e.p. are all different and I love the way how they are done. Intro sounds like a fifties doo wop influenced ballad, the sound I grew to love so much. Eternal Night is a classic horrorpunk song with all the moments and singalong parts, melodies and vocals we love this genre for.
Atom Age Vampire is more of a deathrock even gothic influenced song, especially in vocal lines, with pumping bass, darkened atmosphere of almost touchable sorrow and sombre heart.
She Dines With Wolves has many metallic parts and is again much more different than the rest of the material. Slower parts, eerie keyboard melodies and great vocal melodies give this song something special and this is a great release indeed.
This is a debut full length by Detoxi, band hailing from Ventura, California. The members of the band are in no way strangers to the underground scene having played in many bands throughout the years. This record contains 10 songs. The music of Detoxi is a mixture of horrorpunk, postpunk and goth darkness with keyboards adding to the overall vibe as if watching some old Hammer horror movie which I love so much. The vocal lines are melodic and singer sounds great, the music is upbeat, energetic and even, how should I put it, dancable. Modus Operandi, Masks or Nonsense are the songs that will really ignite your old darkened heart hehe. This is a nice record! 8/10
So Long Until the Seance or Sluts formed upon the ashes and parts of previous Belfast bands in 2014.as a side project that became full time band.
This is their second e.p. and it contains three songs of utter darkness, sleaze, depravity, evil carnage. I expected some music in the vein of Wednesday 13, Murderdolls and stuff but I was wrong. When I first listened to “A Stake Through My Heart” I was blown apart by anthemic melodic chorus with excellent vocal lines that reminded me of Michale Graves in his best songs. The song is a perfect blend of modern horrorpunk and metal with a respectful nod towards old masters and influences. Loved it! The songs are recorded in different studios over the course of 2017.but that fact in no way affected the great song structures. “The Bride of Frankenstein” has some great guitar hooks coupled with great melodies and aggression for singing and slamming at the same time. “Devil in Disguise” is possibly my favorite track on the ep with some nostalgic melodies in vocal and guitar lines and I listened to the song couple of time in a row. Awesome ep, cant wait for some more material!
