We are very excited to share the new single and video from South East UK punks Brutalligators.

Taken from their upcoming second EP, ‘Friends I wish I’d Had’, coming via Real Ghost Records on digital and limited tape cassette in July. This EP sees the band amped up, angry, and delivering 5 tracks of blistering punk goodness.

Here’s how the band describe the single ‘Kill Your Heroes’:

“KYH was written back in 2017, after the news of abuse claims against both PWR BTM and The Football Club. Both featured respected, outspoken idols in marginalised communities abusing their power and position to be horrible people. It was so sad and angering, and since then it’s been one after the other. Powerful people (mostly men) taking advantage of their privilege, power and position for their own sexual gain. We’re fucking sick of it.”

Brutalligators are a four-piece pile of limbs from South East UK, playing energetic and happy sounding songs about heartbreak, life going wrong and all of the injustices in the world today.

(record review) AMALIA BLOOM-Maiden Voyage

Italy never ceases to amaze with the underground hardcore punk scene over there. This time I listened and reviewed for our zine the new Amalia Bloom record.

These guys are hailing from Vicenza, Italy and are playing melodic hardcore punk with post hardcore and some screamo influences. The new record was a process of two years in writing and recording, but finally here it is and it contains 8 songs. Chiaroscuro is a fine miniature that serves as a kind of intro to the record. The whole album can be categorized as a concept album with the story evolving around one boy and his journey through his consciousness and imagination, thus trying to discover the secrets of life, death, existence and avoid personal demons. The music is sometimes melodic Cali punk style, but soon evolves into noise parts, then succumbing into brutal screaming parts, yet to return again as deeply emotional singing and melodies, that makes it original and great journey for the ears and mind of the listener. I listened to this album on a quiet Saturday sunny morning, being home alone and I just closed my eyes and let the music take me to the other places, becoming in a way that boy from the lyrical side that this record tries to tell with the music and texts. This is a great one, just showing how hardcore can be both diverse and original and that is the beauty of it all.

(record review)CHOKEHOLD-With this thread I hold on (Good Fight Music)

Welcome back Chokehold! The 90-ies hardcore heroes are back with their first record in 25 years out with Good Fight Music and I listened and reviewed the record in our zine.

When I was a kid growing up in the 90-ies there was this thing in hardcore which we called new school hardcore back then. It was hardcore which was not old school youth crew played fast, but more slower, technical and metalic oriented stuff, bands like Earth Crisis, Strife, Snapcase and all those Victory styled bands back then coming to mind. Well, Chokehold play just that, metalic oriented 90-ies styled hardcore with tough technically well played riffs, rolling drums, thunderous screaming vocals and songs just made for moshing. There are 8 songs on this record with Profit Over People, Silenced and Underneath being my personal favorites. I was not a fan of this kind of hardcore back then when I was a kid, I love it now! Growing up? Maybe, I don´t believe it, maybe just my hardcore taste widened hehe.
