(record review)NEGATIVE VIBES-Broken Mind

Poland has an awesome underground hardcore punk scene, just waiting for you to discover all of the beautiful bands out there. This time, I listened and reviewed the new Negative Vibes record.

These guys are hailing from the Polish capital, namely Warsaw and play their vision of angry and fast hitting hardcore punk. Knowing the political situation in Poland, which is similar unfortunately to our country, there is a lot of reason for punk hardcore bands to be angry and make energetic music full of rage.

This album contains 12 songs, one being cover by old great Polish band Homomilitia. The music reminds me of Resist, early Poison Idea and similar bands. No philosophy, just plain in your face hardcore punk with shouted lyrics, mix of personal and political issues and short but sweet songs. This album made me hungry for more, so I turned it around and listened to all of it once more. And once more afterwards. Great stuff! Best songs in my opinion: When I´m Dead, Like An Ash.

(record review)INCISIONS-Incisions(TNSrecords)

Manchester UK seems to be great city for diy punk bands, this time I listened and reviewed the new Incisions record out on TNSrecords.

Layout 1

Formed in 2015., these guys have been playing their version of angry, but melodic American inspired hardcore punk. This record is proof how such band should sound like. There are 12 songs in circa 19 minutes on this record. Lyrics are shouted and sometimes melodic sung and it sounds awesome. The lyrics are about right winged tide threat rising in Europe and the world right now, liquor, life, friendship, politics and in fact the lyrics are smart mixture of personal, humour and political. For me favorite tracks on this album are War In Your Head, I Wanna Die With You and Corrupted System.

If you are into your hardcore punk sounding harsh, yet with melody, and having street smart mojo in the songs, then Incisions record is the right one for you.

(record review)BLACK 8 BALLS-When The Curtain Falls(Dedication Records)

European hardcore is alive and well with bands releasing great records almost every month now. Black 8 Balls have been in existence for 22 years and this is their new record on Dedication Records which I had privilege to listen and review for this zine.

Formed in 1996.these guys played in the way I call it, golden era of European hardcore and they have seen some action performing and sharing stage with almost all of the important bands of the genre. This is their new, sixth record and it contains 9 songs of awesome 90-ies styled street European hardcore in your face. The songs are brutal, in your face with gang styled shouted vocals and choruses just made for singalong at the gigs. But, besides brutality, the songs on this record have the great amount of street punk melody and melodic guitar hooks certainly add to the energy of the songs. This band has two vocalists whose angry shouting fits just fine within the song structures and fits just perfectly. Thy lyrics are usual about the scene, broken friendships, betrayal, everyday life, hardcore and I love them. All of the songs are perfect, but the ones I somehow love the most are: As Friends Rust, Once And For All, When The Curtain Falls. Awesome hardcore record!
