I am sorry that I missed Tragedy gig in Zagreb a little bit more than one month ago, the people who were there told me that it was awesome. Now is the time to listen and review their new record for this zine.
For those who don˙t know, Tragedy are hardcore punk band from Portland, Oregon and the members have been around being veterans of the underground punk hardcore scene for many years playing in different bands like for example His Hero Is Gone. This time on the first new music after a long time, Tragedy bring us 6 new songs in their recognizable style, meaning hardcore punk crust with many melodic guitar hooks sounding almost epic and their political lyrics as always. I love how this band kept it˙s underground ethics, they don˙t rely on social media network like Facebook or Instagram, Twitter and similar stuff, but being true to what they sing about Tragedy has many fans and people love their music all over the world. For me the best song on this record are the title track and A Life Entombed.
East Anglian hardcore punks The Domestics and Welsh punx Pizzatramp are releasing split 5 inch record on TNS Records. I am lucky having to listen to the record and review it for this zine.
Yes, you read it correct. The record is 5 inch. meaning that the time is very limited for both bands material. That really doesn˙t matter because both bands are playing ultrafast hardcore punk sometimes bordering with powerviolence with blistering riffs, fast paced drumming, screaming vocals and tons of hardcore punk energy underneath it all. Both bands deliver three songs on this record, it took them under one minute for the songs to finish. Personally, I like Pizzatramp side better, their songs had more impact on me hehe. Great record to listen if you like this kind of hardcore punk.
Pine Hill Records just re-released The Cryptics debut album from 2009.on vinyl. Since I have never heard of the band(shame, shame) prior to this release, it was about time for me to listen and review the record for this zine.
This record contains 21 songs of pure, utter hardcore punk mayhem and boy, am I glad that I got the chance to discover and listen to this awesome band and enjoy the energy bomb that this music presents. The music of The Cryptics is old school hardcore punk from simpler, more fun times in the hardcore scene. This music is ideal for skating and for moshing and hugging shirtless, sweaty kid in the pit next to you. The lyrics are political sometimes, but also with a very high dose of humour and self irony which is good. The songtitles like I killed Hitler or Boris the Bolshevik are sure to make you mosh and wear a smile on your face. Old school flag flies high with this record. Wave it proudly.
