(record review)Nionde Plagan-Reflektion(Zegema Beach Records)

Nionde Plagan are hardcore/screamo/punk band from Sweden and I listened and reviewed for our zine their new release out via Zegema Beach Records

cover

The guys from Jonkoping play their vision of hardcore mixed with screamo and punk influences. That means dissonant, almost sad vibe on this record with a lot of mid tempo atmospheric passages and emotional outbursts of energy. This record contains 8 songs and as I can hear they are all sung in Swedish, so I don´t understand the lyrics, but no matter, sometimes music speaks for itself instead of words. The vocals are harsh, often screamed, but they fit perfectly in noisy, yet melodic guitar work, coupled with smart arrangements in the drum and bass section of the band. This could be very nice experience watching and hearing this band play live. I hope I will one day soon. 15 to 20 years ago, I would discard this music as bullshit thinking only nyhc is real and if you are not tough, you are not into hardcore. But, being tough is living your life the best you can and dealing with problems the best you can and staying alive. So, hardcore is something else. This record is great. Recommended songs: Rex, Maskinerna, Diskrepans.

(record review)ISHWARA-Follow The Rabbit

Ishwara, the boys from Venice, Italy are back. Not long ago we reviewed their first e.p. and you can find it here. Now, they released their new record and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

cover

The new record contains a kinda instrumental introduction to the record and six songs. The music of Ishwara did not change since the last record, but I can surely say that the guys evolved and now sound even better. The music is technical melodic skatepunk with melodic almost Maiden like riffs in some parts of the songs and by gods, these guys can really handle their instruments well. The title song, with the singing and screamed parts, metalic hardcore moshing and melodic skatepunk parts is one of the unsung anthems of modern contemporary skatepunk scene. When I write of this band I am telling you that these guys are gonna be big in the scene one day. Definitely, they are on the right way, although being now only small diy punk band. Live The Perfect Day, A Song For You and others are the hymns for the new generations of melodic punks. And us? The bros and sisters who  were there in the 90-ies, when skatepunk was not so technical and complicated? Well, we love the both sides of the same coin and enjoy every moment.
