Second Arrows, the new metal-core outfit featuring current and former members of Deadguy, Every Time I Die, Nora, and Ensign, have just released a brand new single. “Galactic” comes from their upcoming self-titled debut on New Jersey indie label, Hellminded Records. Produced and recorded by Kevin Antreassian of Dillinger Escape Plan, “Galactic” is a crushing mix of metal and hardcore with moments of space rock amidst all of the chaos. “Sonically and lyrically, Galactic covers all of the ground that we as a band want to cover – driving, spacey, frenetic, and back again.” – Dan Brennan. “Galactic” is currently streaming at Lambgoat.com. Second Arrows – S/T is available on digital and vinyl on June 26th, 2020. Vinyl pre-orders are available through Hellminded Records.

Bio:

In a time when the familiar, the comfortable, and the nostalgic rule the day, Second Arrows have a far more ambitious goal: to create something entirely new, more than just the sum of its parts.

Heralding current members of Deadguy and former members of Every Time I Die among others, Second Arrows push beyond the hallmarks of their collective résumés in heavy music, weaving experimental elements of indie and stoner rock in order to create something at once energetic and raw, yet focused in its execution.

Across eight pieces, Second Arrows’ debut SELF TITLED, produced and recorded by Kevin Antreassian (Dillinger Escape Plan) pushes sonic boundaries to create layers of sound and feeling that exist at the opposite ends of every spectrum: lush and abrasive, whispered and guttural, linear and meandering.

Representing both a complete story all its own and the opening chapter in a journey still unfolding, Second Arrows SELF TITLED encapsulates an enthralling first step for a band that refuses to create on anything but their own terms.

(review) Deathbreaker-Isolate(Facedown Records)

Deathbreaker are releasing their new record with Facedown Records.

The new record contains 10 songs. The music Deathbreaker play we used to call new school hardcore in the early and mid nineties, meaning metalic hardcore, very heavy and brutal, yet still retaining that hardcore roots and razor sharp edge. I don˙t know why, but some songs really reminded me of Earth Crisis, like awesome Pit Viper and my favorite song on this record, called Alone. There are no filler songs and the record does not get boring in any way possible. If you are into moshing parts, metalized brutal hardcore you will enjoy this one very much. Two songs that I can recommend as being also my highlights on this record are Fear, also Strangers. This is sheer hardcore brutality so enjoy this one in these tough times.

(review) The Great Lie-Defying Extinction

Time for another hardcore band from New York to grace the pages of this zine. The Great Lie are from The Big Apple and this is their brand new e.p. What we get on this record are six songs of brutal hardcore with metal influences, also streetpunk in some song arrangements. My personal favorites on the record are Devilbox and Island, My Island. The guitar riffs are noise influenced at times and song A Game Of Horseshoes reminded me a bit of 108 in some parts. The vocals are angry and screaming and fit perfectly to the songs, also spoken word in Island, My Island connects atmosphere and emotions with aggression perfectly. This is great e.p. and I would love to see these guys play live to check out how this material sounds and interacts with the crowd.
