(review) From Today-From Today

From Today are coming from Poland capitol Warsaw and this their debut album. Although the band was formed in 2016., the members have been active in many bands in Polish hardcore punk scene throughout the years. They changed line-up and stability came, so it was time for debut full length to see the light of day. This record contains 11 songs of street hardcore in the vein of all those NYHC bands we love so much meaning Madball, Agnostic Front, but also Rykers, Brightside and similar Eurocore bands from the nineties I love so much. That means faster and more aggressive material, with songs like Energy Gain, Stay True or This Is Our Mission being my favorites. If you love your hardcore fast, at times moshing hard and with singalong gang backing vocals, this is the right one for your. Nothing new, nothing revolutionary, but done with style.

(review) Snag-Snag(Zegema Beach Records)

Milwaukee´s Snag released the record with Zegema Beach Records. What do we get with this one? We get nine songs of darkened hardcore with emotional, screaming vocals, nice apocalyptic melodies, pissed of noisy song structures and environmentally engaged sensitive lyrics about a change that needs to come if we want our planet to survive. Besides, the music is very brutal and energetic but has that touch, the one that makes your heart all warm and tear sometimes come to your eye like in beautiful instrumental violin miniature Morning that serves as calm before the storm preparation for the most harsh and brutal song on the record called Colony Collapse with combination of brutal and screaming vocals coupled with nervous riffs. I also love the clever use of samples as in Into the forest. My personal favorite is Hunger Stone having a very wicked guitar melody which I wish that I wrote hehe. This is another great release, go and discover hardcore bands and remember, always support your scene!

(review) USUD-As Old As The Hills

a0039804067_10A bit older release by USUD, band from Zagreb, Croatia. Although they are not so active anymore due to other obligations in life, these guys were one of the best bands in the scene with their progressive mix of melodic death metal, post metal and hardcore.

This is their newest record with material which was actually recorded a while ago, 2011.-2014. but actually mixed, mastered and released in 2019. These 7 songs show how it is done. Brutal death metal blasts mix with atmospheric parts and lots of catchy and melodic wicked guitar riffs underneath it all. I love poetic lyrics in English which are very personal, but somehow I can relate to them. What is fun, when I listened to the record every time I have listened to a song, I thought that one is the best on the album, but now, I think all of the songs are fantastic, if I must choose three that would be Possessed, Soulless and the title song. Wicked record! You can download it for free at Bandcamp, but also you can leave a dime or two or drop a word or two to the guys if you like the album, I am sure they will appreciate it.
