(new single) Sons ON Fire release new single ‘Collapse’!

Sons ON Fire release new single ‘Collapse‘ along with the official lyric video to all major platforms via Curtain Call Records.
The single was produced and mixed by Joe Marlett (Blink 182, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age).
‘We feel this is the most wide appealing most commercial song we’ve written. It sheds a light on life’s everyday problems and how suicide is not the answer. Everybody has their own problems and issues and we just want everyone to know that help is just a phone call away. You are not alone’ says the band’s drummer Bill Nychay. San Diego’s own Sons ON Fire has quickly become known to fans around the world as a band bound and determined to make its mark among the heavy hitters of modern rock. You could hear it as their first singles ‘Faded’ and ‘Just A Man’ (Pavement Music) tore up the charts for almost a full year and they have now reloaded with the addition of vocal heavyweight Josh Marin and guitarist Shawn Morgan (formerly of Papercut Massacre/Wind-Up Records) along with founding members Trevor Edwards, Bill Nychay and JK MCKinney aka Johnny Fingerz (both formerly of Kicking K8/Crash Music/EMI).This lethal combo has created a synergy resulting in an amazing new partnership with Curtain Call Records, huge performances ( Puddle of Mudd, Trapt, Tommy Vext, Black Top Mojo and Saving Abel) and culminated with the release of their first single ‘Rise’; an anthem for everyone looking to “Get Up and Rise” over whatever is keeping you from moving forward in life.

The band has had tons of experience performing with heavy hitters Disturbed, Stone Sour, Seether, Black Label Society and many more. They are influenced by the likes of Sevendust, Motley Crue, Jimi Hendrix, Staind, Chevelle and Three Days Grace.This band has faced it and even been knocked down at times, but being knocked down does NOT mean knocked out. (review) Purveyor of Chaos – Purveyor of Chaos

Purveyor of Chaos are hailing from Canada and this band was formed on the ashes of Full Give and Penetrator, this being their opus containing eleven songs. The music of this band is raw and harsh heavy metal, not unlike old school eighties vibe, reminding me a bit of Dio, like in fantastic ‘Man of the Cloth’, one of my album favorites. Here we can hear more straightforward heavy metal like ‘Four Point Harness’, but also slower, rolling metal songs with higher pitched metal vocals like the title song, which evolves into fast thrash metal influenced song. This is not only thrash metal influence on the album, there are faster and more aggressive parts like in ‘Without A Master’, which is almost fast thrash metal song in many segments. I must especially mention guitarist/vocalist Maxel Black being totally fantastic singer, his voice transforming from Bruce Dickinson, Dio ranges to more high pitched, almost King Diamond-esque vocals. The musicianship is great, guitar work creating melodic ruthless aggression but also hooks and memorable passages. Drums and their double bass work deliver storm along with bass. This is a strong metal record and I am really glad having listened to this opus.

(review) Wishing Well – ‘Sin And Shame’ (Inverse Records)

Wishing Well are hailing from Helsinki, Finland area and this is their new, fourth album released with help of Inverse Records. The album contains eleven songs of nice and varied classic heavy metal sometimes bordering with power/true metal and sometimes hard/heavy rock. I love the use of Hammond keyboard which makes songs so rich and also a bit retro sounding, but original with sometimes main melody being keyboard themed. I love almost power metal written ‘In The Line Of Fire’ sounding fast, melodic and so powerful. But, as in all Finnish bands, there are lots of great and almost sad, melancholic melodies. Only Suomi bands can create such beautiful melodies like main guitar melody and chorus of more hard rock oriented ‘Soul Rider’. Vocals are very important in bands such as this one, and singer Pepe Tamminen sounds like a perfect mix between Ralf Scheepers and Michael Kiske/Kai Hansen having such powerful and voice that can sing just everything. Songwriting is perfect and whether a ballad like ‘Dancing Across The Stars’ or ‘Flying Finn’ – (is it about Finnish Formula One drivers?) which is more progressive metal oriented have that something making this album great. I can also hear lots of eighties metal and also seventies prog rock influences and that makes this album a little gem in the underground.
