(review) ZOMBIESUCKERS-HUNT YOU DOWN

a3873335145_10

Halloween and that special time of the year is close, so more and more horrorpunk is featured on the pages of this zine. This time, our Sweden favorite horrorpunk band Zombiesuckers delivered their new e.p.

Everyone who loves horrorpunk will find here what they are looking for. That means ultra melodic yet harsh punk riffs backed by clever use of keyboards that add to the atmosphere of old school horror movies, lots of ooohs and aaahs for singing along to backing vocal harmonies and some nice metal influences in guitar riffs and last but not least, gore soaked lyrics filled with horror.

The vocals are superb, avoiding the trap that some young horrorpunk bands do, that being bad clones of Danzig˙s voice, no, this guy sings with such superb voice being fantastic part of the songs. My personal favorites of these five songs are the title song, Hotel and Demons.

Fantastic, like we are used to from this horror from the north!

(movie) For We Are Many-horror anthology!

Horror anthology containing 13 filmmakers that were asked to do their contribution to the movie inspired by demons, Lovecraftian cosmic horror, afterlife, ghosts and similar themes. This movie is poor clone of V/H/S franchise, also ABCs Of Death franchise and similar modern horror movie anthologies. When you have cheap budget, you can still make a great movie by writing superb story. Like similar anthologies, this one also has some great segments, especially those found footage subgenre segments, this subgenre being my favorite horror subgenre besides slasher horror. There are also badly written clicheed fillers, without any sense. Central segment which connects the movie is without any sense at all. I counted seven great segments, against six bad ones, so that makes this movie barely decent mark. Acting is criminal but there are some decent actors here and there. Gore effects are lousy or none this being direct to dvd cheap production. But, I have recently watched that Glenn Danzig`s Verotika and compared to that, this one is an Oscar winning material hehe.

(review) The Brains-Satana Tarantula

097612

The Brains are back with brand new full length record. Canadian cult psychobilly band led by frontman Rene De La Muerte has been in the scene for a long time and between the new duty as drummer for legendary Nekromantix and other projects, Rene found time for new record with The Brains. What I always loved about this band is that they are pretty melodic and somewhat melancholic besides energetic, and Rene´s vocals fit perfectly to the melancholy I am talking about. The new songs vary from slower more psychobilly rock`n roll songs to faster stuff that and I can only imagine what the new material sound like live. The title songs is cool, they also made a video for that one, starring Daniel from Rezurex if I am not mistaken, so check that out too. Other songs from the record that I somehow recommend as highlights are Hellhounds, Come By My Side and Lonely Wednesday. Great album by great band.
