(record review)EPITAPH ROMANCE-“When cemeteries become cathedrals”

Recently we featured Epitaph Romance in this webzine, their reissued album in our reviews. Now, it was about time for us to listen to the new material and review it in this webzine.

EpitaphRomance-WhenCemeteriesBecomeCathedrals

The Texan finest horrorpunk band outdone themselves this time, delivering the record with 13 songs full of gore, blood, anthemic choruses, made for singing along and songs made for your moshing pleasure. I listened to the whole album with gory pleasure, but there are some songs on the album that I loved the most, and I will concentrate on those here in this review. First one is “We are the dead”, classic melodic horrorpunk song with metal touch in guitar solo and fast verse meeting the anthemic mid tempo chorus. “I cast you out” is another favorite of mine, with chorus made for singing along. What I like is that this band uses a lot of samples between the songs, samples from the horror movies and I love it when the band does that on their record. “Darkest depths” is a long but in no way boring song, as it is a perfection of dark melody. “Final destination” is another great song with strong structure and delivered in your face. “Your cities will be your tombs” closes the album in a propriate, gory and bloody way and you should check out this metal influenced horrorpunk Texas band and their opus.

(record review)Mikey Garou-“Hey Bee/In the park”

I don´t know much about Mikey Garou, but I really loved these three songs represented on this single/e.p. I listened to this three songs on repeat for couple of times and reviewed it for this webzine.

I love horrorpunk and I also love doowop and these three songs are perfect combination of melodic horrorpunk, doowop and Ramones/Misfits style of punkrock. “Hey Bee” is a short but sweet doowop styled horrorpunk anthem with a lot of melody and excellent vocals just the way I love it. “In the park” is a dark lovesong ode for all those in love under moonlight cruising through the town and looking for a ghoul girl to be your soulmate. The third song on the record is “The way we behave” cover by The Undead and it is a great rendition of the classic punkrock/horrorpunk song. Great single, I loved every minute!

(record review)THE MONSTER ONES-“Bat Thunder”

You know, dear reader, that the love between us, the makers of this webzine and horrorpunk is everlasting and will never die! So, this time we present you THE MONSTER ONES, horrorpunk band from Palma De Mallorca, Spain. I listened and reviewed their new album for this webzine.

Existing since 2008.this Spaniards mix their vision of horrorpunk with glam rock, rockabilly and deathrock influences in their music, but fuck it, it´s mainly horrorpunk. These four guys and one girl delivered a real powerhouse of the album with tight musicianship, strong songs and not sounding like anyone´s clone and that is often a problem within horrorpunk scene. The album contains 11 songs with the titles like “Slasher” or “Body Snatchers” you just can´t go wrong! This music is not for the fans of straightforward simple in your face horrorpunk like The Misfits or Blitzkid, this is tougher, rocking horrorpunk made for wrecking with spilled beer all over you and another beer in your fist! “Funnel of Love” is cover by Wanda Jackson and the singer Cecile did a really wonderful job with her strong but melodic voice and she reminded me a bit of Krista Kat from Silver Shine. This is a good album, so support the guys and write them a line or two and buy their album if you are a fan of such music!
