(record review)The Wingman-Sleeping Eyes(This Is Core)

The Wingman recently released their new e.p. via This Is Core and I listened and reviewed this record for our zine.

567194

This band is based in Vicenza area, Italy and it started in 2015. This is their debut e.p. and it contains five songs of alternative indie post punk/rock with some poppy and emo influences. This means highly melodic songs and heartfelt lyrics completed with skillfull musicianship. This band is mixing postpunk, indie and alternative influences with some melodic pop and they do it well. This e.p. is great to listen when you want to relax from the blastbeats and more extreme music styles and you just want to chill and listen to some quality melodic and calmer music. There is an easy atmosphere all throughout this record and it is best for you to put your headphones on, lie down, listen to this record and forget about the world for half an hour. Best songs for me are Karpathos and Smells Like Alcohol.

(record review)WEATHERED-Stranger Here(Facedown Records)

Weathered are relatively new in Facedown Records family, this is their first full length out on that label. I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

I must admit that I haven˙t listen to this band prior to laying my paws upon this record. They released three ep-s prior to releasing this new full length. This record contains ten songs of beautiful emo hardcore mixed with altrock and indie influences. What immediately fell to my ear is that the vocalist of this band kinda reminds me on Michale Graves with his voice on some songs. Maybe it is only me, who knows, but I swear I heard it. The songs are smart and well structured and they are not boring, quite the contrary the album flows nicely and I really had a great time listening to this record. My personal favorite song on this record is There Is One, but listen to the record and judge for yourself which songs are yours favorites. Lyrically, this band covers heavy themes through well written personal lyrics. This is a must record for all the fans of more melodic side od emo post hardcore.

(news)Audio Karate Releasing Lost Recordings 7″ EP This Friday; Listen Now To Band’s First New Music in 14 Years

50F813EB-6F6A-4945-9FD3-99C4E4036082

Beloved So Cal punks Audio Karate are making the most of their recent reunion. In addition to upcoming shows with Descendents and an appearance at The Fest next month, the band has unearthed songs from a “lost” recording session that they did after the release of 2004’s Lady Melody, which will finally see the light of day when it’s released as a 7″ EP this Friday, September 28 via Wiretap Records.

The EP marks the first “new” music from Audio Karate in 14 years, making it essential listening for fans of the LA 4-piece.

Pre-order the EP here: http://wiretaprecords.limitedrun.com/products/628311-audio-karate-7-ep.

From Audio Karate:

By the end of 2006, Audio Karate was no longer on Kung Fu Records and had stopped playing shows. Jason decided to build a studio in a garage in Montebello, CA. He, Justo and a family friend constructed the room within a room, ran the electrical, sanded the drywall, and painted it themselves. They called it Lady Melody Studio.

“Bounce” and “Landing” are two of 13 tracks AK recorded at Lady Melody Studio. They’re also two of only three songs recorded with Mike Jimenez (Rufio) on drums.

Audio Karate called it quits in 2007. Jason dismantled the studio and put his MacBook with all of the song files away to collect dust. Until now.

This 7” is a time capsule. It’s the first single from their forthcoming album, Malo, the unreleased, nearly lost follow-up to their second album, Lady Melody (2004).

“Bounce” is a freight train jam that picks up where “Jesus Is Alive & Well” left off. It features Art delivering his finest punk rock James Brown vocals and Jason and Justo in their prime.

In “Landing,” Art ditches his vocal-bleeding growls for falsettos. It’s a layered, anthemic track unlike anything AK has ever done.

The AK crew is happy to finally share this music with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as the guys enjoyed making it more than a decade ago.

Pobre for life.
