Fair Do’s are a 4-piece melodic hardcore band from Manchester, known for their incendiary combination of punk and metal, rooted in exceptional technical skill. Driven by a strong DIY ethos, they’ve established a dedicated following around Europe and have supported legends like After The Fall, A Wilhelm Scream, Frenzal Rhomb and H20.

Their first full-length, ‘Leopards’, is an adrenaline-loaded collision of hardcore punk and metal, rooted in tight, technical talent. Their astute, political lyrics cover topics as diverse as wealth distribution, foreign policy and the monarchy. That said, Fair Do’s hold onto their renowned Northern wit, also casting their sights on Noel Edmonds and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

‘Leopards’ is available for pre-order on Digipack CD and 12’’ vinyl on the
Lockjaw Records Webstore. The band’s first single off of the album, ‘Closing In’, shall be available for streaming and download from the 13th July.
Formed in 2008, Fair Do’s have established a following of dedicated fans around Europe,
playing with legends like After The Fall, A Wilhelm Scream, Frenzal Rhomb and H20. Driven by a strong DIY ethos and riding on the success of their shred-heavy EP ‘Trying Times’, the band journeyed around Europe and its accompanying festival circuits; however their sights are now set on conquering the rest of the world with the release of their first full-length: ‘Leopards’.
The album is an adrenaline-loaded collision of hardcore punk and metal, rooted in tight,
technical talent. It’s clear that Fair Do’s have spent their formative years hammering their distinctive fast-punk style home, however they have also invested considerable time honing their metal chops, evident in their heavier rhythms, riffs and plentiful beat-downs. There aren’t many bands around who relish mixing punk and metal styles as much as Fair Do’s!

(record review)AVAS-“Avas”

UK hardcore punk scene was always awesome, filled with excellent bands and Manchester´s AVAS are one of them. This is their new e.p. and I listened to the record and reviewed it for this webzine.

Formed in 2010., Avas released two albums and two ep-s, played live a lot of times and shared stages with H2O, SNFU, Death Before Dishonor and many more. This record contains four songs of high explosive energetic hardcore. “Think” is a pure hardcore song with gang backing vocals, positive attitude and more similar in my opinion to NYHC school than to European hardcore school. “Friendzone” is punkrock song with shouting back vocals just made for jumping and shouting at the gig and it reminded me a lot of Sick Of It All punkier anthems. “You and I” is another hardcore fast bomb in the old school youth crew way, an ode to friendship, scene and hardcore which reminded me when I was a kid like 20 or 25 years ago, when I went out with my hardcore crew and we felt invincible band of brothers. The best song on this record for me is ” Open Heart” which is the most melodic song on the record with beautiful sung vocals, great anthem and the whole song somehow reminded me of Endpoint. You might notice that I compare the bands a lot, but this in no way means that Avas are clones of those bands or stuff like that. Quite the contrary, this is an awesome hardcore e.p. which made my day and filled me with pure hardcore energy!
